Quote:The NFL video is very very interesting. At 0:24 of that video, it shows his lapel pin being changed. There was one on, which was taken off, and replaced by a Jaguar pin. Did anyone else catch that? I wonder what it was.

I think all the players in the green room had an NFL Draft 2014 lapel pin that was more or less their backstage pass.  Once they were selected, they were give a team pin.

He's been suspended for over 6 months now.

Don't get me wrong, I would LOVE to have him back.

But from what it sounds like if you listen to everyone involved, it's just not looking promising.

He wasn't even eligible to apply for reinstatement until the start of the league year, so being suspended over 6 months was already to be expected.
Quote:or c) he is required to stay in the substance abuse program or whatever it may be for a specific period of time which has not expired yet.

I just don't understand why everyone is so negative when they don't know anything about it. 'tis the season for optimism, not pessimism. Wink

His teammates, the guys who are supposedly his friends, haven't heard from him.  They don't even know where he is.  Do you seriously think your option is even a possibility based on his track record?  The team knows more than they are willing to share.  If they're already making it clear he probably isn't an option in 2014, I think it's safe to assume they're not just plucking that from thin air.

It's not being negative at all where Blackmon is concerned.  It's just being realistic.

He still hasn't applied.  If a player was eager to get back on track, do you think he'd sit on that?

That would make sense. I had never seen something like that before. I didn't know what the deal was with that. .

My hope would be that he's staying far away from everyone on the Jaguars team and getting his head screwed on correctly before even thinking of football. So yes, I think it's plausible that nobody knows where he is.

The front office took the smart route and went forward as if he were gone permanently. As I stated before, it only makes sense. Without him, you need those receivers. With him, you still need those receivers. Win-win when it comes to picking Robinson and Lee in the 2nd.

Peanuts I say!!!!

None of us know anything, so carrying on with this is pointless.

I believe he'll be back around the midway point of the season. You believe he won't be. For the sake of the franchise, I hope my guess is correct and yours isn't, but both are possible.

I love snoopy!!!!
I still hold out hope that he can turn his life around. I don't understand why teams don't just assign a permanent limo driver to some of their big investment players. Say what you want about the current wr group,  none of them possess the skill set of Blackmon. Best  case scenario he turns his life around and contributes at a high level, resigns with the jags with a very cap friendly deal because nobody is willing to throw money at the guy. Worst case, he doesn't get reinstated and we release him.

The team has to know the basics. There are contractual and cap issues that they have to have some information about regarding a suspended player. The league doesn't leave them completely in the dark.

You're clearly not listening to them. They're telling you they don't expect him back this year. Nothing about mid season. This year. You're more than welcome to ignore the giant billboards they're putting up telling you Blackmon will miss 2014. That way you can be shocked week 9 when he's not back.

Guessing he'll be back doesn't mean I'll be shocked when he's not.
I'm interested in the monetary loss the Jaguars have or will be subjected to. So Justin foregoes this year's salary & March bonus ( & obviously any future yearly salaries & bonuses)  but wasn't he paid a pretty sizeable signing bonus? - 7 million or something like that?  How much of that could they technically recoup?  I mean, morally, it doesn't seem right that a player can play a season & a half & then just walk with all that money. If he hasn't even bothered applying for reinstatement then all signs point to the fact that he cashed in & is done.  He's set for life financially if he never sets foot on a field again.  They should be eligible to get some of the signing bonus back right?

Just because two options are both possible doesn't mean they both have the same probability of occurring.

There ya' go....The train is moving on down the line.
Some people seem to think if they remove Blackmon's locker now, he won't have one if he returns.

Maybe it's a strong message to Blackmon to get his act together.

I think the multiple suspensions and the money is lost is enough of a message.

IF that message can't get through to him, getting his locker redistrubuted won't either.

True.
