Why oh why couldn't Blackmon just have been another GS bust of a top 10 draft pick.

The one top 5 draft pick GS makes that actually has a chance to be a real probowler and he turns out to be an addict whose career might be over after playing less than 2 seasons worth of games.

I really hope he can straighten out his life because it will be a huge weight for him to carry around when he finally realizes what his addiction has robbed him of. It won't be pretty.

Quote:His teammates, the guys who are supposedly his friends, haven't heard from him.  They don't even know where he is.  Do you seriously think your option is even a possibility based on his track record?  The team knows more than they are willing to share.  If they're already making it clear he probably isn't an option in 2014, I think it's safe to assume they're not just plucking that from thin air.

It's not being negative at all where Blackmon is concerned.  It's just being realistic.

  Very well stated.

I agree strongly that the Jaguars organization has additional information on Justin Blackmon's situation that led to both the draft strategy of taking two WR's in Round 2 and the decision to give Blake Bortles the locker that Blackmon used.   I don't even think that the Jaguars are trying to send a message to Blackmon at this stage.  The Jaguars organization has tried to help Blackmon in the past.  There's only so much they can do.

While it's possible that Blackmon will get to the point that the NFL and the Jaguars will give him another chance,  it's unlikely this will be in 2014.    The Jaguars smartly have put the pieces in place to move on without him.   If Blackmon demonstrates down the road that he warrants another chance,   then a calculated decision needs to be made by the key Jaguars decision makers.
Imagine if he's never heard from again, and he comes popping up on those, "Where Are They Now?" shows 20-30 years from now.[Image: 8591-3729.jpg]

Something like that

Quote: I don't understand why teams don't just assign a permanent limo driver to some of their big investment players.

The NFL has partnered with Uber to provide free driver service to all NFL players.

At the end of the day these are grown men who will do whatever they want to do.    The Cowboys hired a 24 hour bodyguard/chaparone/driver to PacMan Jones to keep him out of trouble.     PacMan ended up getting into a physical altercation with him when the bodyguard tried to keep him out of a bad situation.

If we really dont have anything to lose, just let him do his thing and hope he gets his head on right, he comes back and scores some awesome TDs for us. Or he gets banned from the NFL. Id rather take the risk he gets banned and no one else ever gets him.

But i wish we would hear something more...

I can't wait for Blackmon to come back. He is a special receiver and if he stays in shape and does right from here on out, he can be a force to be reckoned with. Besides, I have his jersey, he better come back..

Yesterday, Shad Khan referred to Blackmon as "a tragedy."

I'm pretty sure he's done here.

Welcome Blake Bortles pay no attention to the name above your locker we'll have that replace in no time at all...

(Hmm seems to be a few names behind this, hmm... all the 1st round picks in the last few years....)

... just checked the pier at Jax Beach.  Didn't see Blackmon amoungst the group of homeless people.  That's a good sign.  I say focus on the positives.

So when will they be able to talk about this openly and plainly?  Whether or not he comes back doesn't seem that important anymore, but I still would like to know exactly what is happening.

.....by definition, tragedy really isn't that bad.  :woot:

So with Blackmon, we've gone from "How soon can he be a Pro Bowl player" to "Is he amongst the Jax beach homeless" in 2 years?

Shaking my head in dismay.
While it is disheartening to think of releasing/cutting Blackmon, It may be the best option for Blackmon himself,  As an addict or alcoholic, it may be in his best interest to begin in a fresh environment.

In reality I think the Jags are going to do everything they can to help him return to the Jags roster.

Is it actually possible to "distrubute" only one locker?  Are we breaking it up and passing out the pieces?

The odds don't seem to favor his return, but if he's not coming back, it's because he's not able to shake his demons.

Mark Long is on with Dempsey as the guest host today, and he's giving Blackmon a 25% chance of getting back on the field as a Jaguar.  Oehser and O'Halloran have both set the odds at 5%.
I don't get why nobody is able to call his agent and ask what is going on.

When exactly is he able to apply for reinstatement?

I caught that, too.

Meaning... slim to none.
I think they just wanted a reason to raid his locker..

I suspect we'll see something on PFT before we hear anything official from the Jaguars.

Which is why I check PFT first thing every morning.
