Prosinski
These two and Carter were the guys I immediately thought to be moving on when I saw the UDFA list.

Nothing shocking,

We'll be cutting better players than these before September. That's a good thing.
Quote:He's missed 5 games in 3 seasons with injuries, so I don't really think it's fair to consider him injury prone and it's not like I just want to trade the guy, but at this point in the teams development, we need to keep collecting future assets. A 2nd or 3rd for a guy like Shorts should be a no brainier, particularly on an expiring contract.

The concussion history alone would be a red flag for a lot of teams. Nobody in this league is going to pony up anything higher than a 4th rounder, and they'd need to be desperate.
Quote:I tend to agree with you here. Cobb just has that look of a potentially great RB. He has the speed and quickness to make guys miss in small windows. His 4.4 speed is legit. He runs like...dare I say it....Fred Taylor. Seriously.

We might want to wait until he's actually facing NFLish talent before comparing him to Fred.

In watching his highlight reel, he looks like a prospect worth developing, but probably on the practice squad.

I'm not comparing him to the great Freddie T, just his running style. His ability to come our of a cut and kick it to 6th gear is just jaw dropping.

I think a lot of that had to do with the level of competition he was facing. I watched his running style, and he isn't a explosively fast as Taylor was coming out of college. Similar running styles, but Taylor looked like he always shot out of a cannon at times. Cobb was run down in the secondary more than once in his highlight reel.

I don't think people realize on this board how serious concussions actually are and how easily they end your career not to mention your value in the FA market.  Look at austin collie. Was super promising, now he can barely get on a team.

They really don't, but in their defense, neither did the league up until very recently.  It's a serious brain injury.  Multiple concussions can be the root of many serious problems down the road.  It is definitely a flag for teams now, and it would absolutely impact any potential trade value Shorts might have.
I wonder how long before Tyson Alualu is cut....

If he's cut, it'll probably be during or after camp.  I don't see them cutting him any sooner than that.

I'd be surprised if he made the final 53.

Would be great if Caldwell was able to snag a late rounder/ conditional pick in exchange for him, too.
Quote:If it were as simple as that, Denard should be flourishing.

Running in a zone blocking system may just involve one cut, but it's not an easy system.  Getting the hang of zone blocking scheme is a huge undertaking for a RB if he's never played in it before.   The RB is forced to make a specific  assigned cut depending on on intricate readings of the the wash out of the defense and the way defenders are angled, and it typically takes a ton of reps to get it right.    Lynch didn't really master it until his 2nd year in Seattle.   Same with Warrick Dunn when Alex Gibbs came to Atlanta.  And those are guys who had played RB their entire life.

I really doubt anybody is trading for that contract. Especially with his player option for 2015.

TMD has Shorts traded off for a 2nd or 3rd rounder, so Alualu should be able to garner similar value in his world.

I do? Where? The only thing said from me was 4th rounder minimum. That doesn't = "2nd rounder". It could be inferred that I think theres a chance for a 3rd rounder, but the 2nd is quite a leap.
Quote:Shorts has yet to play a full season and has concussion concerns.

It's not like I'm predicting a trade of him, but I can understand why Caldwell might want to make a move with him since his contract is running out and he might believe more strongly in the guys he brought in himself.
Concussion concerns? It's been almost two years since he's had a concussion.

It's been almost 18 months. If we were rounding it'd be rounded down to 1 year.

However, I don't know if concussion concerns ever become a thing of the past. Remember Austin Collie?

Exactly. It takes more than measurables. I think Cobb will face a very tough adjustment period and don't expect him to threaten anyone for a roster spot.

A concussion is a traumatic brain injury. Each concussion makes you much more susceptible to future concussions and long term cognitive effects. Even 2 years removed, he is much more susceptible to repeat concussions.

Except for that fact that the University of Cumberlands incorporates ZBS in their offense.
