Quote:If that is true then I would say this team can make the playoffs this year. Honestly my expectations were low but I legitimately see 5-7 impact players in this draft. Coupled with an easy schedule my expectations are heightened a little.
lol so signing Christian Jones puts us over the top?? lol
Just pick from the Kiper/Mayock/McShay boards and the fans will love you Smile

Gentleman.... we have ourselves a football team.

Happy 2014.

Because of how bad some our recent drafts have been we forget about some great drafts from back when we were a good franchise.

96- Kevin Hardy, Tony Brackens Aaron Beasley

98- Fred Taylor and Donovan Darius best 2 at their positionin franchise history

Other than that though most drafts were an assortment of solid starters and role players, guys like Rashean MAthis being the exception. But if this crop plays to their potential It will easily be the best of this millennium,

Not specifically his pick but everything I said comparing this to the bengals 2011 draft. If you knew that draft and there UDFA pickups you wouldn't find that funny.
Wow...  it's like showing up to a champagne party ten minutes after the cork was popped.  Positively giddy around here.

I was just so glad it wasn't Manziel.  If it was gonna be Qb, I wanted Bortles.  I liked him from the first time I saw him.

And Marquis Lee looks terrific!  What a player - I can't wait to see him on an NFL field.

Still learning about the others, but I was already excited by these two.

We've definitely turned the corner - and not a minute too soon.  It's been downright painful wearing a Jags sweatshirt these last few years..

Caldwell proved himself this year.  It flows top down.  He did his job, now the rest can fall in line.

Yeah, but the problem with those Coughlin drafts is they were usually extremely top heavy.

This draft looks very balanced, meaning just as many late round quality picks as early round.
This draft will be made or broke by Bortles...if he turns out to be an elite/franchise level QB the rest of the draft can suck and no one cares...same can be said on the flip side...if he is a terrible bust then the rest of the draft can be great and this draft will be seen as a failure because of that...

I do like a lot of our picks though...and some of the UDFA we have coming in are solid players too.

Very good draft we potentially filled all of our draft needs.

I have no idea who any of these people are so I'll wait until I see them play.

Quote:Per all reports heading into the week that Joeckel got hurt, Joeckel was looking MUCH more comfortable in practice at OLT than he ever looked in games at ORT.

As for Cyprien....I think Cyrpien's play will improve as the talent around him does.

cypriens last  8 games he graded out positively in PFF rankings

I think he'll be fine
Quote:Nice job guys!!!

That was beautiful. It was reminiscent of the sort of quality drafts that Jimmy Johnson and Buddy Ryan had in the late 80's early 1990's.

Only one pick that I disagree with and thought was bad value and that was the Center, I thought Tyler Larsen would have made more sense and better value for the position. But when we are talking only one pick that I question out of 9....we can sweep that one under the rug.

This Jags draft is loaded with value picks, as well as chocked full of players that I believe will be impact starters, not just role guys.

Here's the recap:

1. QB Blake Bortles

2. WR Marqise Lee

2. WR Allen Robinson

3. OG Brandon Linder

4. CB Aaron Colvin

5. LB Telvin Smith

5. DE Chris Smith

6. C Luke Bowanko

7. RB Storm Johnson

My grade: A+
im impressed hearing you say this about our front office, its quite refreshing... couldnt agree more about this draft, fun to watch from first to last round... caldwell just killed it.... this is the second year he has really impressed me in the draft.
Quote:This has been a long time coming. Too long. I can't wait to see these guys in Duuuvaaalllll!!!

Friday morning!

its not that he was bad... i wanted to see the kids ability to thump translate over to the nfl and i definitely think it did... he had some blown coverage and missed a few assignments but i expected that outta a rookie... i think he is only gonna get better in his second year, not to mention that our d line should get more pressure and make his job a little easier.
Quote:SS maybe, but he's already proven as a LB.

The NFL is a passing league. Speed is more important at LB than size these days.
Could become our Cam Chancellor!

Totally pumped about this draft.
The draft seems like a good one. We've felt this way before though with the 2009 draft. A really good draft will have 3 or 4 of these guys stick around long term. I think that having all of these guys contribute significantly is a pipe dream. I don't want to rain on anyone's parade so by all means go on and keep enjoying what we just watched over the past few days because it does feel good, but I'm going to need to see it on the field first.

Carry on with the celebration.
I thought this draft was pretty good top to bottom. Combined with a coaching staff the promotes true competition, it should make for a very interesting/fun team to watch this year.
Quote:Yep....like seeing the foundation of a house being built, although in this case, we're talking the foundation of a luxury mansion B)
I've never seen you so positive! Its awesome!
Have to agree. Obviously we'll have to wait and see how it all plays out, but as far as right-after-the-draft goes, this one feels very strong.

I'm really happy with how things turned out. I'm a UCF homer, and it's weird to see what I wanted actually happen for once.
