Quote:He ran a 4.3 40...

Yeah... he never an a 4.3 40 on the field. Did you ever watch him play? He was probably the slowest Jags WR I've ever seen, and I don't think his height played into that.

I did like him thought, and only because of his height was he somewhat decent (he could fight for the ball even though he was covered at all times).
Quote:Matt Jones was timed fast in the 40, but never played even close to that.

In all honesty, Matthews played slower than his official time too.
Quote:He's going to make it back. Jags would be complete idiots to release him at this point. Lee is a huge huge risk, but if he clicks and Blackmon makes it back with one final chance, we're talking

Blake Bortles

Marquise Lee

Cecil Shorts

Justin Blackmon

Ace Sanders

Marcedes Lewis

I mean... if that can't get the offense going, then I don't know what will.

Too bad we can't have Carlos Hyde as well.

A line to set it all up. That's all that's left really.
Quote:Lee doesn't have character issues? I thought I read something about drugs....but maybe I am mistaking him with another WR

Don't think Lee ever had any character issues bruh. It was really just the body catching and the knee issue. He would have been the top WR last year.

His brother got killed in gang-related violence. That is about all I know that is character-related.
Quote:Character issues?
This kid has 0 character issues, he lost both his parents, he grow up in the hood but he wanted out, this is a good kid
Quote:Lee over Jordan is all about scheme I think... It seems the jags prefer these run after the catch guys that create plays after the catch... and they have a big arm qb ... I guess they want to be the Steelers offense now? who is going to get the deep balls?

Yeah, I brought up the Emmanuel Sanders attempted signing that should have foretold this selection once it became clear that Lee would be available at our pick.
For a guy that's only 6 foot he plays bigger then his size.. I like how he goes up and attacks the ball.
Yeah, no character issues.  Lee is a wacky little kid.  He's acts like someone's little goofy brother and you can't smack the smile off of him.

Well I'm assuming we must be going by 40 times because Lee certainly doesn't look "slow" on tape.

The line should be completely fine. We're getting Joeckel back, I am thinking Mike Brewster is going to surprise a lot of people at his natural position at center. We obviously signed Beadles, and I think we'll pick up at least one more lineman in the remaining rounds.

It might be most beneficial to get Lee the most playing time he can be given, sit Bortles, and let the O line get used to playing around each other. Insert Bortles near midseason or 2015, instant success.

Yea I think I heard we wanted Watkins because he caught a lot of quick short passes and could break them, that applies to Lee, he fits the system, the Sanders thing is a good point

OK, its possible I was confusing him with someone else.

But the knee and size are 2 things that are concerns. (we need a big WR)

It's not the Jags releasing him that worries me. There are much bigger obstacles in the life of that young man. Hopefully he learns to overcome them. He has the potential to be very very special. I hope it happens for him. Smile

Quote:I thought we'd get an OL but it's a sure sign the Jags are moving on from Blackmon! Good pick.

honestly, if he pans out, Cecil might be this years Eugene as far as not being with the team next year

I didn't say Lee looked slow. He's going to look a lot faster than Jones because of the huge height differential.

Lee could turn out to be a complete steal, but he's a big risk because of his injuries and play style.

He honestly seems like a pick that someone that's more established as a contender (lets say the 49ers) would make. He could be huge, but he could be a big risk at the same time. Someone a team like us might not want at this stage while we're still rebuilding.
Fwiw, going into his Senior season, an NFL scout described Lee as the most talented WR he's seen since Randy Moss.

The talent is there, lets hope he stays healthy.
Quote:The national media had him in the first round. Good scouts probably not so much. Again I don't hate it, but he's just average

Average player or average pick?  The Jags got a bargain getting him where they did, and I bet Dave is feeling pretty good about it.  It's the second round, so the top two or three guys aren't going to be available.  At this point it's about value.

Marcedes won't be part of it.

His replacement will be drafted soon.

Definitely agreed for sure. You want to think well he's gotten himself in this much trouble and lost millions of dollars, what is going to finally get into his head? You know what kills me me though? The dude misses 4-8 games of the season, comes in, and instantly gets 200+ yards receiving.

I mean... if he can be banned and away from the game that long, and come in looking like he's been playing all season long, imagine what he could do if he were to never be banned and play consistently. He could be top 3-4 receiver in the league easily. But Jags luck, we get a headcase that cant put it all together (At least not with this team).
