OMG Gene Smith is terrible...  was an epic thread, top5 all time imo, thanks Krazy.

The fact that Caldwell passed on Buffalo's offer of a future 1st rounder ( which is guaranteed top5) is very startling considering that the roster is as bare as an NFL roster can be. At least he handcuffed himself to a QB early in the process unlike Gene Smith who took bum after bum and then traded up for Blaine Garbage. Caldwell can get the boot a little sooner than your boy Gene Smith.

It's funny how the BILC year in and year out adamantly defends whoever the regime picks with baseless facts and mindless banter, talk about trolling son.

Being that I wasn't the biggest fan of Bridgewater I'll say this, I'd rather have let's say Watkins/Mack and Bridgewater than Bortles/2nd rounder.

Also, the Bortles pick gave me deja vu of the Gabbert pick, just saying.

Que tired response in three, two, one...

2 years in a row Dave gets to draft the #1 player on his board.  I think Houston may regret not taking Bortles.

Quote:Taking Bortles with Clowney still on the board is a scary notion if true.

This whole Cleveland was going to take Bortles at 4 thing is starting to reak a little bit like the excuses Gene & co gave for not trading down because they thought Miami was going to take Alualu at 12. I don't need to hear about Caldwell's conviction for Bortles and him being the pick all along as some sort of justification of the pick because that kind of stuff should be obvious. And as said the previous staff acted the same way when the Alualu pick was made. "Oh we truly believe in Bortles".....well, no [BAD WORD REMOVED]....

Everything I've read, the 2 QB that Cleveland wanted from this draft were either Manziel or Bridgewater. It seems people are trying hard to manufacture a case that Cleveland was going to take Bortles, but I just don't see it.

There are significant differences between these two situations.

1)  DTs can be found anywhere in the draft.  Franchise QBs...not so much.

2)  At no point in time was Tyson Alualu believed to be a top ten caliber pick by ANYBODY other than Gene Smith.  Not even Alualu himself.  Since at least the combine, Bortles has consistently been deemed a top ten pick at least, and according to some projections was seen as the top overall pick.

Well Clowney will probably do well for them but yeah, if Bortles is what Dave and Gus think he is, it's gonna be a long decade+ for the other three teams in our division. ;-)
