Quote:Players and coaches don't tank.. It's called integrity and pride. No player in his right mind is gonna call it quits especially when he's playing for his job.
We're been thru this.
No crap that players don't intentionally lose.
However, strategic lineup decisions can still attain the desired result of the owner in a tanking mode......such as playing Case Keenum the last half of the year, even when he's stinking up the joint and Schaub almost leads a comeback win in relief over that span....
Quote:Its not irrelevant.
Its about getting the most opportunity.
I was wrong about Bridgewater not being the target.
I am not wrong about tanking for the 1st overall pick if having that pick results in a giant windfall of picks from a trade down.
Even if the Jags still trade down after (such as in your hypothetical) it won't be nearly the return of what Houston is likely to get at 1.
So, as said, until 8 pm passes with no trade from Houston, I am not conceding anything.
one it's not relevant. You don't tank and two the difference in trade value really wouldn't be that much especially with the rookie salary cap they put in place a couple years ago. Look at the Dion Jordan trade last year.. You really
Don't get a lot for moving up in the draft anyone. Your very rarely ever
Gonna get a ransom
Like the Rams did for RGIII.

the texans didnt put Keenum into tank they put him in to see if he was the answer. They knew Schaub wasent... The texans probably won't even draft a QB at #1 which further negates your point. Accept it your wrong on this one.

So the coaches are supposed to plan to lose.
Seriously, you need help. Pathetic doesn't even come close to describing you.

Lets wait and see tomorrow before claiming that trade compensation isn't that big anymore....

It won't matter. You'll still spin it that being a loser beats winning any day because you've been staring into a mirror telling yourself that for years.

Oh please, Anyone could tell 4 games into Keenum starting that he wasn't the answer.
After that Jags game where Schaub almost pulled off the comeback, Schaub should have been starting again.....but they didn't put him in there because McNair was afraid they might actually win a few games and ruin getting the 1st pick.
we will see tomrrow but on the issue of tanking it's still irrelevant. When your playing for your job you don't tank unless your the Blacksox.
Quote:Houston trades their #1 (1) to Atlanta for Atlanta's #1 (6), 2014-3rd, 2015-1st, 2015-4th
Jags trade our #1 (3) to Detroit for their #1 (10), 2014-3rd, 2015-1st
At that point it all depends on how well Atlanta and Detroit do next season.
In the above scenario, I would agree.
I'd be shocked if the Jags would be able to pull that sort of trade after Houston did, however.
We'll see.

I disagree. It became blatantly clear after a handful of games that Keenum wasn't the answer, and it looked horrible having a guy wearing a gold C on his chest standing on the sideline. That was a tank move.

Thank you. I said something similar above, too.
Quote:I'm expecting the top 3 picks to be traded. Houston <--> Atlanta (Clowney), St. Louis <--> Tampa Bay (Manziel), Jax <--> Detroit (Watkins)
you are out of your mind if you think the top 3 picks are all going to be traded.

tell that to Gary Kubiak and everyone else that got fired. Tell that to all the players who had pay incentives or bonus based on performances and games one. Teams don't tank.

Gary Kubiak was done as soon as he lost 8-9-10 games in a row, Keenum or not. And no, players do not tank. Management does. Sometimes.

I agree with the above but would say mgmt includes ownership as McNair of Houston was calling the shots to tank during the 2nd half of last year.

no they don't. There jobs are still on the line.

That doesn't mean he tanks on the team and tries to lose games...
Seriously, this is beyond stupid.

Agree to disagree. There was simply no reasonable explanation to continue to play Case Keenum when you have an average starter (and team captain) on the bench. He makes Chad Henne look good by comparison.
