I don't generally like bringing race into sports but am I the only one who see's this?
Bridgewater displays all the characteristics of the classic pocket passer (Intelligence, composure, accuracy)
Manziel displays all the characteristics of the classic scrambler (Improvisation, agility, speed)
The classic pocket passer is usually white and ,obviously there are many exceptions and I'm not saying only a white person can be a pocket passer I'm just saying thats the perception of the type of Qb.
The classic scrambler is usually black, same as above of course there is exceptions but thats the generality of the type of Qb.
Is the fact that Bridgewater is black lead some of the media to discredit him as a Qb simply because he doesnt fit the generalization?? Similar with Manziel, are some of his flaws ignored by some of the media simply because he is white?
This is not a racially charged post at all its just an opinion that I have and I was wondering if others shared this view. This may be completely unfounded but it is what it is and its what I believe
This is my first post ,I'm from Ireland and have been a creeper on this forum for many years
Thank you

Cheers, its been fascinating to watch this forum operate, thought I may start adding a post or two
\It just feels that their is a lot more positive things coming from Manziel's side than from Bridgewater's because of Manziel's massive fan following. Manziel also seems to get a lot more positivity from people who interview him than Bridgewater. He's always getting talked up by someone whereas there's always someone trying to talk down Bridgewater.
I like them both, but still, it does seem like Bridgewater's getting pushed down, but that's mostly because of the "can't miss QB" hype he had back in the college season whereas Manziel has always been a sort of wild-card risk type player.

Welcome to the forum mate.
For real though you sound smarter than 90% of the people here just from this post. Glad you joined. I hope youre not a Celtic fan.
About the subject though, If Teddy was white he would physically look like Derek Carr (in terms of height and weight). He would look bigger than Johnny. It would have been a non issue. I have never heard another QB get repeatedly criticized for small ankles. Its beyond funny.

I suppose Manziels following and status was always going to overshadow the other Qbs but it just seems like something is missing with peoples evaluation of Bridgewater. Maybe I'm looking to much into but I thought I had to ask it

I think when it comes down to it Bridgewaters durability in the league will be a non-issue .

I've seen how easily people can misconceive statements on this forum so I wanted to pose the question in my own way

West Ham, Celtic, Jags, why do you do this to yourself?
Quote:No,I prefer Manziel as a prospect actually, good try though.
To answer ur question Teddy wouldnt be as overrated as he is if it was about race

The weekends are usually a dark dark time for me
Plus if Mayock had Teddy ranked lower than he should be because of race he would be fired.
Yikes... if there is any bias based on race, it would be that folks weren't as honest about Ted earlier because they didn't want to upset the cart. People were probably afraid of being accused of racism (as I have been on several occasions) if they didn't follow the herd at the beginning.
I've wondered for quite some time now if there isn't a different reason folks walked on eggshells at the beginning and were shying away from criticizing him any earlier than they did.

I don't think Bridgewater is overrated you see, imagine Manziel was black and Bridgewater was white,do you think the analysis of them would be different?
I think the honest answer is yes.

never thought of that and always wondered why he was ranked so high but that makes sense and is probably true

how would the analysis be different on them?

Its hard to bring race into subjects such as this but I think some areas of the media do have a racial bias.
I just believe that the medias perception of the two prospects would be different if they were different colors.
Manziel has been hammered by the media just like any scrambling quarterback for the most part of the off season. Same thing with tebow. But when the perception became that NFL teams like Manziel as a prospect they changed their tune a bit.
The NFL is changing. And the NFL QB position is changing. If there even is a disparity, it probably has more to do with that.
