No. We still need a QB, to fix several positions on the OL, a RB, a legit WR1, a tight end, a consistent pass rush, probably 2 more DEs (which goes back into the pass rush), a longterm solution at MLB if Jack isn't it, another starting caliber corner, a FS, SS can be upgraded too Cyp is just meh. I'm not even going to mention SLB, that is a blackhole basically. This team is barely better off than it was 4 years ago. I don't understand why people think this is a 9 win team talent wise or something. Maybe with a really good head coach. At best the talent level on this team is good for a ceiling of 7 wins with an average coach. This is the state of the team after 4 years. Caldwell has FAILED, I don't care what anyone tries to say to pretend like he has actually done even a decent job. He's failed on almost every level. He hired the worst coach in NFL history, signed off on a losing culture, has screwed up 3 of our 4 top 5 picks and has literally like 4 good players AT BEST in the entirety of his 4 drafts, and that's stretching it, and wasted well over $100m in free agency money on a bunch of mediocre football players. His only good signings so far has been at the DT position. His 2015 draft class looks worse than his 2013 draft class and there's a good chance no one from that 2013 draft class will be here next year. THAT's how bad Caldwell has been. He is every bit as bad as Gene Smith if not worse. Khan is crazy for keeping him and we will suffer another 2-4 win season next year because of it. We can only pray that we get all of a good GM, good coach, and good QB all at one time in 2018.

We have maybe 8-10 guys that can be impact guys going forward...and even that is counting on more progression from guys like Lee, Yannick, and Jack and rebounding from someone like Arob.

Another handful of guys like Amukamara, Ivory, Hurns, etc. are fine starters but also not going to be all that hard to replace if needed.

Talented but not quite talented enough to make the playoffs even in the AFC South imo. About 8 players away I'd say
The team isn't loaded but yea I think we had the best roster in the division coming into the season. A couple of glaring weaknesses but zero leadership and no one playing on the same page.

Is this team "really that" talented?   Whatever that means.

I see a team with enough talent to go at least 8-8.   I see a team that lacks a pass rush, that doesn't block very well, and has a big hole at QB.   I think fixing any one of those things would put us in the playoffs.   In fact, I think we could be in the playoffs next year.

The main reason this team keeps losing is mistakes.  Dumb penalties, missed assignments, and a QB that can't hit the broad side of a barn.  I think there are 50 QBs in the league that are better than Blake Bortles right now, and it shouldn't be hard to find one.

I actually think this team right now has more overall talent than it's had in a decade.  And I've never been one to tout the talent on this team.   For many years, I've said the problem on this team is the lack of talent.  But as of now, I really think we have almost enough talent to make the playoffs.  And they're mostly young, too.

Really, I think our window is just starting to open, and the right coach will put us in the playoffs next year.

After 8 hours of sleep, I came back to this thread thinking once again that everybody is talented. What this franchise lacks is the development of talent.

Gus and his crew managed to take immensely talented players and actually develop them into being worse. It's all about development.

Better coaching and an average QB could make this a .500 team.  So they aren't that "that talented"  until that stuff happens, but there is a fair amount of talent distributed around the roster.  Still holes to fill and work to do, but they are better than this season's record suggests.

In his news conference, Caldwell said that he was getting calls from people interested in the HC position.......whereas before, when he hired Bradley, he was having to cold call to find people to interview.  Maybe we DO have talent and we might be an attractive destination for a head coach.

Quote:Aside from QB we probably have the best overall roster in the division.

Including the quarterback. We all know what Blake can do with good coaching. The talent is clearly there.
If it's there, then it's playoffs with the new HC.

This year's goals shouldn't change.

They said post season with Gus.

If the talent is truly there, then the expectations should be no lower than they were with him when they made that proclamation.

Quote:We have an average team with Ramsey being our best player. Telvin and Linder are 2nd and 3rd. Yannick 4th.

Jack?

Fowler?

It is impossible to judge Jack when he is only on the field for a handful of plays. That is one of the many bad coaching decisions. A new coach will keep him on the field so we can see how good he really is.
Look, the Patriots have been drafting in the bottom 5 for 15 years. Their raw talent level is not anything great but Belichik manages to make the most out of all of them. Brady gets the ball to the best available player on every snap. He (like Manning) makes them all look very talented.

Look at Belichik's coaching subordinates. They all looked great in N.E. but pedestrian everywhere else. That is what a good HC can do.

He has every right to be. Some of you are textbook definitions of masochists.

There are teams that would sacrifice a small goat for that many promising players.

Not many, especially when one of them isn't a QB.
Quote:Objectively....   Is the Offensive line woes a symptom of the coaching and game planning?  I can see it both ways.

Part of it is not being a good scheme fit.

A bigger part is inability to run block.

He may have the right but that does not make him right. Often negativity is warranted with this team. He goes way overboard with it.

I've got to agree. Without a decent QB in place, it doesn't really matter how much talent the rest of the team has. That's why we might have a hard sell, when it comes to landing a new HC. Our QB situation is far from ideal and there aren't many options out there. Mike Glennon is likely to be the top option in free agency and I don't know if anyone sees him as a true franchise QB. We could trade for guys like Jimmy Garrappolo or A.J. McCarron, but that could be very, very expensive and neither are sure things. We could trade for QB's like Sean Mannion, Tom Savage (this may no longer be an option), Connor Cook or Chase Daniel which may be a cheaper options than Jimmy G. or McCarron, but again, it's a real gamble on how good these guys can be. The draft is completely QB void of talent at the top end, but who knows, I guess we could strike gold in the later rounds, but the odds of that could be about the same as winning the Powerball jackpot. With that said, how attractive is this job.
Quote:This team is loaded with talent. Unfortunately, the talent that DOES LACK is at really key positions. QB, RB, Oline and DE.
This. The crucial positions aren't here.  QB and RB are completely trash.  DE is another problem, especially when a rookie is leading the team in sacks, and your 3rd overall pick can't get to the QB.  Oline isn't as bad as the other 3.

Everyone loves to insist we have no talent at QB just because. How it is humanly possible to watch the same QB last year and claim he is not talented?
