Quote:I think it'd make Caldwell even more likely to take a late-round DE if one's there. Clemons and Babin allow that player the luxury of time to develop into something.
How many DE's we going to keep on the active roster?? Unless you mean PS.

Would you be stashing said player on the PS or keeping him on the 53 when they wont see much of the field over Branch/Babin/Clemons?
Why am I on TMD side today...I need to log off

We are probably going to have 5 - 6 DEs on the active roster.
I am guessing 3-4 LEOs and 1-2 RDE
Remember they rotate players a lot in this style of defense.
Having 4 LEOs and 1 RDE is not crazy. And probably 4 DTs as well.
9 Players for D-Line

9 Players for D-Line
Babin/Clemons/Branch - 3 Leos
Bryant/Alualu - 2 LEs
It doesn't change anything.

Let training camp sort that out.

A lot depends on what happens with Branch and Babin. Bradwell might not think as highly of Branch as a long-term prospect, or maybe they gave Babin a contract with low enough guarantees that they could cut him if they'd rather keep Branch and a rookie (or two). Maybe the late-round guy is outperformed by everyone else and ends up on the practice squad. My point is that you've got a lot of flexibility to draft a developmental guy at end instead of being forced to draft a guy in the first two rounds.

Yeah, you do. Time away is that only cure for The Mad Disease and its crippling effects on one's reasonableness, sanity and football acumen.

Very seldomly does his going against the grain attitude pull a follower lol... Actually I think I just agreed with him in another thread, always feels so wrong lol.
Quote:Babin/Clemons/Branch - 3 Leos
Bryant/Alualu - 2 LEs
Or it could be
Clemons/Babin/Branch/ Draft Pick - 4 Leos
Bryant - DE
Alualu/Hood - Hybrid DE/DT (Meaning they would sub in for Bryant or one of the other DTs)
Marks/Miller - DT
Quote:It doesn't change anything.
Nor should it. The cream will rise to the top.
Quote:Now that we have a stable of LEOs with Babin and Celmons - is there any way we don't draft Sammy Watkins #3?? Perhaps we sign a WR too, and then it's anyone's guess.
In this years market all bets are apparently off. I feel almost guilty with all the spending. It's just no what the Jags do. I keep pinching myself to make sure Dan Snider isn't posing as Shad Kahn......
As Dave and Gus themselves said, by bringing in these guys, we are putting ourselves in a position where we don't have to draft need. We can take the best player and not be worried that we'd have a glaring hole in our roster.
The Texans may be thinking Seattle role model. Add Clowney with Watts in an already decent D. Cleveland def wants a QB ( trade up? ). So? Whats that leave in the Clowney to Texas scenerio? Bortles? Please.No. All I can think of would be Manzeil, Mack or Teddy. Or...a trade down further.
Stupid Goodell...moving draft till May...then starting on a Thurs night. Ugh. We, for years, planned Saturdays at The Bank, Landing, etc for the draft. Oh well.
All in all...the team is absolutely going to generate more fan interest, ticket sales, etc with what they are doing this year....especially after last years yawner and the London bs finally settling in.
Quote:It wouldn't affect selecting a player like that (should he drop to 3). But it might affect selecting a lesser round DE in lieu for another position of need.
this. would much rather have a 30 something pass rusher with experience than a 4th rounder who may or may not make an impact

Marks/Hood/Miller/Jones - DT (Jones and Hood also able to play DE)
*Davis the odd man out or Branch traded, if Clowney or Mack drafted.

Yup it very well could be.
Either way 9-10 players on D-LIne is not out of the realm of possibility, and it's probably going to be that way

what about davis or watson?
Quote:what about davis or watson?
I don't think Davis will be here once camp is over.....
also Watson is OLB, though he could potential play as a Leo on passing downs.

Exactly right. They've mentioned this a few times already.
