Quote:Plans change.  Sam Kouvaris' latest article backs this up.  He truly did expect to do that until what he saw during the regular season.

A change of plans doesn't make you a liar or fast talker.  It means you've changed your mind based on better information than you had the first go round.  It's not just "talk."
I dont believe Dave thought for one sec. that Gabbert was gonna be the QB of the future. There was no good QBs in the draft last year so why reach for one when you have plenty of other holes to fill.   So he figured he would give him his last chance to see if he could turn things around.
Quote:I do.  It's been growing on me for about a week now, and is gaining a lot of steam.

You see hints of it in articles ( http://www.jaguars.com/news/article-Feat...19d22b7601 "The team could take a quarterback at No. 3 overall, or it could take a pass rusher, or it could take a wide receiver",) and on the radio, too (where Martineau mentions him specifically.)

It's what could be the worst kept secret.

What it might point to more, is the team feeling that Blackmon wont be part of the future here. That's what if feels like to me at least -- but maybe I'm just associating that with their interest in Watkins.
Quote:He did?  What for one year and the Joeckel pick?

Dave isn't dumb he knew what he had in Gabbert.
He said he'd give him a shot and he did.  He said he'd build around him and he drafted a first round LT.  He did what he said he'd do.  Of course he knew what he had. Did you expect him to tell everyone "We don't love the QB's coming out this year so we're gonna see if this guy can come around until we find a franchise QB."

He's not gonna' bash players on the roster - but when it comes to talking about things he intends to do in building the roster - he's been nothing but transparent. Not a single smoke-screen so far.

BAP all day

I believe it to be exactly as Sam described it.  They, like everyone else, loved what they saw in practice and believed they could be the one to get it right with him (hence all the analytics, 3rd system/3rd coach/three years talk, etc. etc...)  He was named starter early in preseason.  It wasn't until he went Hyde in game time did he realize what Sam had told him.  I don't think they were sold on anyone being their "QB of the future."  It was all too much of a work in progress.

Completely agree.  He comes off as a person of high integrity, and not someone who dabbles in deception or other Mickey Mouse shenanigans..
