Seattle had Clemmons originally and still decided to draft bruce irvin, Id say that move worked out pretty well and I dont see why we wouldnt do the same. You can never have too many young pass rushers, seattle in last years super bowl and the giants in their previous 2 victories have proved that.

I feel like Mack has to be the pick if Clowney and Bridgewater go in the 2 before us, Watkins is good but so is Mack who seems to fit the LEO role like a glove! he could even start at SAM linebacker. Dont get me wrong I like Watkins, but I feel like this draft is deep at wide receiver and itll be easier to find an impact receiver in later rounds than an impact pass rusher, not to mention that Mack has good cover skills as well and tremendous instincts and awareness on top of his numerous physical talents. I just dont see us passing on a young premier pass rusher as Clemons and Babin are both over 30 and likely not the long term solution at that spot.

Quote:If I were a betting man, I would put my money on Sammy Watkins at 3.  I am sure Caldwell would love to trade down and get some more firepower in this draft but if he is stuck at 3 watkins makes sense.  He was there in Atlanta when they gave up a ton to move up to get Julio Jones.  I think Caldwell understands there isn't a QB worth taking at 3rd overall.  Henne needs a deep threat that can stretch the field.  Give the QB some weapons and give him a fair chance to be successful.  Blackmon is a non factor until he is reinstated.  That could be never.
He want to get a deep threat for Henne? Are you kidding me because if not then show me the hidden camera because i'm getting punk'd if that's your best explanation. When Dave Caldwell made the trade for Julio Jones it's was because his team was coming off of a 11-5 season with the mindset they was one piece away on offense and they had a good qb (key word) Matt Ryan not Chad Henne who stinks worse than Limburger cheese.  My question to you is why isn't a qb worth taking at #3? I think everyone got this assumption if they're not Andrew Luck as a prospect then don't take him which i think is ridiculous. He's a once in a generation prospect like Elway and if Dave Caldwell drafting scared and is waiting on the next Andrew Luck then he's going to be unemployed in 2 years. If Teddy Bridgewater is there at #3 then Dave Caldwell needs to take him because he has the potential to be Flacco, Romo, Brees, Wilson and Matt Ryan which shouldn't be a bad thing when it comes to qb success.
Quote:There wont be a bidding war, Dave would not trade up.
Dave said during the fan forum that he would definitely trade up to 2 if he was convinced someone was going to jump him and take who he wanted. He even said he already talked to Les Snead (whom he is very good friend with from the ATL days) about what the compensation would be, and it would be a 3rd or 4th rounder.

The signings to date give us the flexibility to go with whoever they view as the best player. I don't think they prohibit the selection of Clowney or Mack, as both guys could come in and be contributors, and in Mack's case he could even start at OLB if he wins the role.

It will be interesting to see what route the team takes. Not sure who I'd take, but I think I might lean to Watkins or Mack.
i feel like caldwell has been very clever in securing up his options so he doesn't have to address the de or qb positions if he doesn't feel there is value.

henne can be a back up and though it makes me claw at my eyes (especially as fitzpatrick may hit the market and he impressed me as back up for the tacks last season).... if need be he can start the early season games and give the rookie time to develop

i want to see babin's cap number as if it's a small cap number with very little guaranteed money I can see us cutting him if we draft a pass rusher high however our signings and strength on the d line pushes me in the direction of a qb at 3, if not mack or watkins

i wouldn't go watkins myself as i feel we could get value later in the draft and wide receiver is not as big a need as qb or pass rusher especially as i feel mack would work best from the olb position and give us pass rush from our whole front 7

say we went lightening with marks clemons babin branch poz watson mack

any and all of those guys could get to the qb

i like that idea

Because something said at a public fan forum should absolutely be considered completely truthful. Caldwell was talking out his tailpipe. There's no way that he goes out in public and says, "Hey Cleveland, if you want to jump us, it'll cost you a third round pick and change."
LOL.  That Clemons ride-along with Shadrick is pretty funny.

Those are pretty good.   Not an interview but a conversation.

I wouldn't be too quick to accuse him of tailpipe talk.  He was very open about taking a tackle last year, and fans responded to that with the "blowing smoke" card.

Since this was back at the fan forum, that's probably really what the ballpark is/was at the time.  I'm sure as we get to crunch time, he'll let that value drive up as high as the highest bidder would like.  Folks have their own value, based on who's available and who they want, regardless of whether or not they've discussed it with anyone else yet.

Plus... when you're the one bidding, you're going to start as low as reasonably possible just to begin the conversation.

Dave also said he was gonna build around Gabby
Anyone get the feeling that with Justin Blackmon being a huge question mark that Sammy Watkins is looking more and more likely?

Yes, I think he will be our guy if he is there at 3 and Clowney is gone.

He tried to do that just that. Gabbert didn't hold up his end of the bargain.

He did?  What for one year and the Joeckel pick?

Dave isn't dumb he knew what he had in Gabbert.

He gave Gabbert a chance to show something.. anything and he really didn't.

WR certainly looks like the least addressed position on the team right now, with the most questions going into the draft.

Plans change.  Sam Kouvaris' latest article backs this up.  He truly did expect to do that until what he saw during the regular season.

A change of plans doesn't make you a liar or fast talker.  It means you've changed your mind based on better information than you had the first go round.  It's not just "talk."

I do.  It's been growing on me for about a week now, and is gaining a lot of steam.

You see hints of it in articles ( http://www.jaguars.com/news/article-Feat...19d22b7601 "The team could take a quarterback at No. 3 overall, or it could take a pass rusher, or it could take a wide receiver",) and on the radio, too (where Martineau mentions him specifically.)

It's what could be the worst kept secret.
