Quote:If the guard is playing behind the quarterback, it probably says a lot about why the QB's struggling.
If they bothered to check the validity of their rankings, they'd probably see a correlation between their higher "graded" (and I use that term very generously) linemen and the performance of the QB.
They don't have the first clue about what the lineman is supposed to be doing, and they freely admit it.
In short, this is a very good signing. We signed a very good, Pro Bowl player with Super Bowl experience who has spent his career zone blocking, and we signed him to what's a good value. Not to mention, we upgraded - not just filled a hole. There really isn't anything rational or reasonable not to like about it.

Now I will agree that we overpaid for our new OG, esp after seeing this contract

The #Ravens and OT Eugene Monroe’s deal is officially done, per source. Five year, $37.5M.
P.S. - But with the money we have to spare I am still happy about signing him.
That's not all that surprising to me. He didn't play all that well and adding hin didn't get them a playoff run as they thought which I'm sure drove his price down. Still a solid deal for the Ravens but Monroe has disappointed me. I was a big Monroe supporter (still like him) but I thought he would be a much more dominant player this far into his career.
Quote:@AdamSchefter: OLB/DE O'Brien Schofield @ob_scho has agreed to terms with NY Giants on a 2-year, $8 million deal.
At least for the time being, it looks like the agreement between the two parties is on hold:

Anything new on Thurmond, and Young?

Jets are giving former Broncos WR Eric Decker a 5-year, $36.25M deal, including $15M gtd, per source.

Barely over 7M per...so no, not 9M per TMD.
