Smoke Screen.. remember last year when we were in love with Geno Smith and passed on him twice? Yep.

Quote:Did Michael Vick stop the Eagles from drafting Foles?

Did RG3 stop the Skins from drafting Cousins?

Did David Garrard stop the Jags from drafting "Molasses" Byron?

Carry on.

They aren't Fisch.
Good! We need Clowney!

Then Jimmy Garappolo in the 2nd or 3rd

Quote:This doesn't change that if anything, it advances it. By choosing Henne as the backup they pretty much tip their hand that they won't be selecting Manziel. A more mobile backup would have been chosen than the statue that is Henne if Manziel was a serious option for the Jags FO.

Fine with me because I don't want Manziel here.

But you know your logic is hopelessly flawed here, right?

Using your rationale, every signing would tip their hand regarding who or what position may become less of a draft priority. Then the surest way to not tip their hand would be to not sign anyone at all. Of course, given the numerous holes on the team, anything less than an aggressive approach to free agency subjects the team to criticism from you.
Tipping their hand due to roster resigning...wow
I don't think we're getting Clowney or taking a QB in RD1. Either HOU or STL takes Clowney or Bridgewater. At this point, with the 3RD overall selection, I think Caldwell will play it safe and take either Jake Matthews or maybe Khalil Mack. Though I am a bit worried about Mack.

It is comical.

Lol. Great response when someone proves you wrong.

Who cares if we don't draft two qbs (we still can). There will be a nfl draft next year and the following year to see if a mid round qb presents good value.

That doesn't even make sense.
Quote:The Jaguars will never draft a QB again. Ever.

They have "QB fear" and would prefer "QB purgatory."

(whatever they are...)

Correction:  posters were in love with the QB, not the team.

Looks like the same story this year.

You finally speak truth!

If Caldwell selects Jake Matthews, expect Riots.

If we get Jake Matthews, then I expect us to trade back into first for Johnny.

Luke, Jake, and Johnny united again.....hahahaha

I just vomited in my mouth a little bit.  I can think of little that would be more likely to cause me to throw something at my TV, than watching us trade up to take Manziel.

Trading back into the first to select in the top 10 would be expensive.

If you think Manziel will fall to the late first, you are mistaken.

He'll be there, we won't need to trade up to the first to get him either

A league source tells the Florida Times Union that the Jaguars are unlikely to use a first-round pick on a quarterback after re-signing Chad Henne to a two-year contract on Friday.

There is increasing chatter that quarterbacks are going to fall in the draft, and the slides could be expedited if QB-needy teams like Jacksonville suddenly pull out of the derby. Of course, this is Lying Season in the NFL, making it difficult to trust anonymous "league sources." Stated the source, "With Henne back, I don't expect them to take QB until 2nd round and maybe not until 3rd or 4th round." It's worth noting that the source's quarterback expectation would be similar to the path that led the Seahawks to Russell Wilson. Gus Bradley was Seattle's defensive coordinator at the time. He's now the Jaguars' head coach.

This is great news to me. I think any QB in this draft is a huge reach at #3.

People around here love to bash on Henne, but that's what they'd get and little more at 3 this year.

Absolutely agree.. I'd love taking Manziel, but at 3, give me Clowney or Mack..
