'Tis the season.. every year we hear phrases thrown around to describe the incoming rookie class. You will hear how a QB can "make all the throws" or how a D Lineman "has a motor that is always running." Or how a player has a "high football IQ."

What other cliches should we be on the lookout for as the Combine descends upon us?
Slow white linebacker = High motor guy

Undersized white receiver = Wes Welker type

"He has all the intangibles."
Quote:"He has all the intangibles."

The problem with that cliche is many people don't even know what intangibles are. Can somebody explain it in detail?
"He is a high character guy."

Haha so true, I remember watching the combine (I believe it was last year) and someone compared Ryan Swope to Wes Welker, Swope is 6'1 and runs a 4.3 hahaha.
If my receiver runs a 4.3 40, I don't care how tall he is.

Then again Wes Welker has only played with future HOF quarterbacks.

..except in Miami.
"He's a lunch pail guy."
Quote:..except in Miami.

Nobody is talking about who will say what.

But if you want to talk about Miami, we have a thread for that in the NFL forum.

Welker played in Miami before New England and Denver...

I thought the Patriots drafted him. All of the articles about his history of playing in Super Bowls said only that he spent 6 years catching passes from Tom Brady.

He wasn't drafted actually.  He was an UDFA with the Chargers and spent a couple of years in Miami prior to going to New England.
"football acumen"

" may be undersized - but pound for pound......"

"He's a bit of a tweener."
"This guy can be elite"
"This guy was a sleeper before the combine but now he's racing up the draft boards"
"Workout warrior" or "Weight room Warrior" And yes, I hate that every reciver that is white is compared to Weller if he is smaller or Jordy Nelson if he is bigger. Look for e every white TE to be compared to Jordan Cameron etc.
Not draft specific:

He's a great player, and an even better person.

"He has a high ceiling."
