DiRocco: Jags are more excited for 2015 QBs

<div>
Jaguars beat writer Michael DiRocco notes the team is "more excited" for next year's class of QBs rather than 2014's crop.

DiRocco believes the Jaguars should not take a passer in the first two rounds of this May's draft for two reasons. One, according to DiRocco, is that "defense is more important to winning championships than most people realize." Secondly, "young, inexperienced quarterbacks, provided they have the pieces in place around them, can make it to and win Super Bowls." We hate looking forward to next year's draft class, especially for a team that could put together two poor seasons in a row under a new regime if they do not upgrade the position. But many people always believe the next year's group of quarterbacks is better than the current one.

Dude's a Gator homer who ripped us for not taking Bustbow. Screw his hot takes.
Just keep waiting. The next year will always be better.

Also what SilentJaguar said.

I'm not agreeing or disagreeing, just sharing the info, nothing surprises me anymore however. I can see the Jaguars going several ways in this draft.
So why did Shad Khan say that we'll be drafting a Quarterback maybe 2 according to Ryan O?

Remember when this years class was supposed to blow any others away? The grass is always greener on the other side. Next year will be the same story; wait till next year
Based on Caldwell's comments about other teams putting the other pieces together before getting a QB, it wouldn't surprise me if they didn't go QB high in this draft. In my opinion, I feel like the Jags brass might be leaning towards a Clowney at the moment. But hey, we are a good 3 months away so a lot could change.
I am not saying don't take a guy. But to me, after doing more research, the teams that already have talent elsewhere seem to fair the best when implementing a new QB.

There aren't a lot of guys like Peyton Manning who can just get drafted and your team is a playoff contender every year after their rookie season. Sometimes it is ok to build the team and then grab a QB.

Tom Brady - when he was winning championships they had a top 5 defense and a top 10 rushing attack

Philip Rivers - his best years were with the top RB in the league at that time and a top defense.

Big Ben - he had a dominant Steelers D and in the past few seasons has started to flourish as a passer

Russell Wilson - dominant seattle D and some offense weapons as well

Kaepernick - dominant 49er D and offensive weapons galore

.....and these are just a few examples......

I know getting a QB is a priority but it seems the ones that have had the most success in past season are the ones that have a lot other talented players around them as well. This allows them to come into their own and grow at a much better pace than just being thrown in with mediocre talent around them.

Same thing is said about every draft class

We are getting Bridgewater this year

The QBs after the top 4 are blah. It's a sad state of affairs when a terrible QB like Logan Thomas is the best "developmental QB".

The only qbs next year who would be really worth the gamble would be Winston and maybe the Cooks boy from Michigan State
So the headline Reads:

But the whole story is:

The problem I having with this QB class, is that I can't legitimately say that any of them are definite top 10 talents....let alone top 3.....

I like Bridgewater but he reminds me of a Chad Pennington coming out of college (not that this is a bad thing, if not for all his injuries he probably would have had a great NFL career). In fact this whole QB class is reminding of the the 2000 NFL draft.

Nah, add Mariota, Hundley, Hogan, Petty, maybe even Mannion also . It does have the potential to be special if most of them declare.
cant wait forever to get a quarterback. they don't even have to be the greatest ever. be nice to even have an average one after the  last few years we have had to endure.

I dont get the love for Hogan..I've watched him play about five times and never was impressed. His only pro is that he knows how to run a pro set offense
If they don't take one in the first or second round this draft, I will be very surprised.

Shad Khan said the Jaguars will definitely pick at least one quarterback this year. If we are more excited about next year's quarterbacks, we can pick one now and later. It would be stupid to think for one second we should not pick a quarterback this year and the Jaguars know that.

Most if not all of them are overrated
the 2018 class is suppossed to be one of the strongest ever!!
