JW I think you are missing the point.  I know that your team is called Ohio State University, but most fans are so adamant about putting the word "THEEEEE" in front of it that, as a joke, Michigan fans have begun simply calling them just Ohio in order to get on their nerves.  It's all in playfulness as rivals.

Technically you should call my school University of Michigan and not that school up north because there are many schools more northernly than Columbus.  It's all just a joke.  Michigan fans like to call Michigan State "little brother" even though we aren't siblings.  Schools can't be siblings JW, it's just not possible!!!!

Quote:How about The Citadel?

Correct, I believe he was referencing his alma mater.
Quote:Correction: Governor John Kasich signed an executive order that for one day the letter M is illegal. That is not the same as the General Assembly outlawing it. Of course,  even if I had voted for him in 2010, I still would have thought that was stupid.

The problem with not calling my favorite team Ohio State is there is another school called Ohio University, so anytime people just say Ohio, that must mean OU, not OSU. It is like if you called Florida State Florida, Oregon State Oregon, Kansas State Kansas, etc. And please don't call me and copycat fans of the same college team. Copy's favorite team is the Ohio University Bobcats, not the Ohio State Buckeyes.

Holy majoly!  I thought your favorite team was UF when they were winning championships?!  I'm so confused JW!

My favorite team was never UF, even when they won championships. UF is the other team I like. My first love always has been and always will be Ohio State.

I have no problem with making up a silly nickname as a joke, but calling Ohio State Ohio is stupid because that sounds like you are talking about the Bobcats.

Brady Hoke avoided putting the words Ohio and State together in his introductory press conference in a way that did not sound like OSU is OU.

When you call Michigan that team up north I get confused because there are many teams further north than Micigan.

Can you please stop doing that?  It takes me a long time to figure out who you are talking about.
Quote:Wow, the list was arrogant and loudmouth but I guess we need to add dumb to it as well
.

The three Ohio fans (CST, JW and copy) really don't get how Michigan calls The Ohio State University just simply Ohio as a knock?  I mean they talked about it during the game when they brought up how Ohio made a state law to not use the letter "M' or how Ohio calls us "that school up north" because you can't utter the word Michigan.  We don't say that school down south, we simply call you Ohio because we know how pretentious you are about putting the word "THEEEEE" in front of OSU.  You guys really need to step your game up, I thought you were fans.

As far as suspending our player, by all means we should and would.  In fact I remember last year Hoke suspended Fitz (our top RB) for our game vs. Bama.  He could've let him slide with a slap on the wrist but instead he sat him out.  Also they kicked out our top WR a few years back Stonum who ended up transferring to Baylor.  I'm sure there is stuff that goes on in every program, including Michigan, but Ohio takes the cake in terms of off the field issue and lack of discipline with it's players now that Urban is at the helm.
Perhaps you need to add that moniker to yourself.  Check the avatar buddy, I am an Ohio University Alum, tOSU stands for 'that Other School, Understand?'  Don't lump me in with that bunch.   :teehee:

Pretty sure that's the one he's talking about.

Yup, that's the school I had in mind. Been The since the school opened it's doors.

Speaking of, The Ohio-Michigan St. game this weekend should be good.
Quote:And you also know his name, which Dumptruck apparently forgot.
I don't keep up with players from teams I don't follow. Do you know the entire offensive line for Boise State without going to Google?
Quote:Try reading the thread before you impose your opinions on my as if they came from my own mouth. I've already said how I feel on that particular player.
I imposed opinions by asking questions? Ordering food at restaurants must be daunting for you.
Quote:Ahem, Ohio University was the first college in the state. That makes OSU that other school.

Lol no offense intended
Quote:I just think adding the t wreaks of an inferiority complex. No other school feels the need to do it (except Miami...)
The t separates our abbreviation from being confused with Oregon State, or Oklahoma State. No inferiority complex here. THE is a part of the schools culture as much as the buckeye

While it was in the form of a question, it was a rhetoric, in that, you assumed my stance on the subject, without knowing my previous posts on the matter. Otherwise you wouldn't have bothered asking.

Not to argue, but I don't degrade on Michigan by calling them scUM, as many tOSU fans would. Leave the arrogance out of it.

No I asked because I didn't know your stance. You are presuming a lot just from someone asking you a question.

I am a Marshall University fan. I don't have any skin in the OSU/UM gripe.

Ohio State fans can try to spin it however they want.  Just so you all know, thats how people around the country perceive it.

"Legend also has it that "The" was used to show the other colleges which institution was supposed to be the leader in the state - both in size and in financial support from the legislature."

Its easy to presume as I did, when my answer to your question was already in this thread.

The Ohio State University is the name of the school. What more is there for you to debate?
