Quote:Was Bradley my 1st, 2nd, 3rd, 4th or 5th choice? yes or no?
No. He was my 6th choice.
After Reid, C. Kelly, B. Kelly, O' Brien, and McCoy.
Yes, at that point I was pro Bradley. He seemed like he could have been the best of what was left. That said, I didn't want them hiring Bradley until they interviewed a few more candidates first, namely Roman & Armstrong. Instead, they went and hired Bradley off of the first interview they gave him. I had a problem with that, and also said ahead of time - that a key for Bradley's success would be the level of assistants he was able to fetch, particularly O Coordinator & D Coordinator. When the assistant hires were underwhelming, thats something I took issue with.
But keep trying to paint a slanted view. Thats what you usually do.

I remember TMD saying things like "looks like Caldwell is going to just hire his friend." Something of that nature.

Yep, typical you (and others) - more half truths....
What I was against/ concerned about was Roman being hired (as the result of being Caldwell's friend). Wasn't against hiring Roman after due diligence of a good number of coaches being interviewed/ and then Caldwell deciding that Roman was the best candidate. Also, I warmed up to Roman during/ after the playoff games as that made consecutive years of the 49ers offense doing well in the playoffs.

How exactly are hires of Bob friggin Babich who sucked with Chicago as DC despite having quality defensive talent, and Jedd flipping Fisch - who had trouble staying at one job for more than a year or 2 during his pre Jax days anything BUT underwhelming hires???
Are you serious??
Quote:TMD every assistant coach hire is underwhelming.
Is it not?
No.
Had they been able to secure Carmichael for OC, that certainly would not have been an underwhelming hire for OC.

Who is he OC for? Serious question.
I wouldn't have minded if they took a look at Wisenhunt, but regardless it was never that big of a deal to me.

Why don't you give it time to play out rather than jump to your constant, abrasive black and white opinions? You're wearing this board out with your non-sense. You need to get out of your mom's basement and get a hobby, seriously. Over 41 thousand posts!?! Imagine if you had used that time to do something constructive with your life rather than argue endlessly on the internet with strangers over something you only have a 50,000 ft view of and no real insight?

Currently with the Saints. Jax tried and failed to nab him when Bradley was hired.
I agree about Whisenhunt, that would have been a fine hire too.
Hiring top notch Coordinators is significant especially when you are a green coach like Bradley is. Look over the years at some of the coaches that have gone on to have a lot of playoff success, you will usually find top notch Coordinators there at that time too.

It was another flawless execution of the now famous TMD flip-flop.

Everyone knows that had Caldwell hired Roman, TMD would have been the very first one to say that he ONLY hired him because they are close friends.

I, for one, am very happy with coach Bradley as the hire. I think he definitely has the "feel" of a very good NFL head coach.
He needs a lot more talent to be successful, however. Here's hoping that Caldwell drafts really well next year and picks up some very solid starters.

Not necessarily. Depends on the circumstances. If Caldwell would have hired Roman after doing a "Gene Smith level head coach search" the year he hired -his- buddy Mularkey, then yes, I would have....
However, Had Caldwell done extensive due diligence and brought in say 6 or more really top notch head coach candidates and then at the end of the process, (which should include 2nd interviews for the finalists) chooses Roman over the others, then no, I would not have made that criticism.
