Quote:Not necessarily. Depends on the circumstances. If Caldwell would have hired Roman after doing a "Gene Smith level head coach search" the year he hired -his- buddy Mularkey, then yes, I would have....

However, Had Caldwell done extensive due diligence and brought in say 6 or more really top notch head coach candidates and then at the end of the process, (which should include 2nd interviews for the finalists) chooses Roman over the others, then no, I would not have made that criticism.

Right.  If they'd just followed the TMD success model, it wouldn't have been an issue.

How many NFL franchises have you run successfully, again?

Its not a case of "the TMD success model" or not. Its merely a matter of a sound way to go about business/ hiring people. They actually did follow that method for the Caldwell hiring,....not sure why they went away from it for the head coach hiring.

I don't think he has even bought an NFL ticket yet.

So if Bradley turns out to be good, you were wrong right?

Oooof course not.

They did it that way because sometimes, when you see opportunity, you have to be decisive and make your move.

Just like you don't give the Jaguars the benefit of the doubt in a lot of instances (and rightfully so) due to their history, the same applies here for you.

I just flat-out don't believe you.  Your history as a poster on this message board indicates that you would have been calling for Caldwell's head IMMEDIATELY if he hired Roman.  Everyone here knows it, so lets stop pretending.

Secondly, I would argue that getting the GM right is the most important thing.  I think Caldwell has made good moves so far, but ultimately it will come down to his draft picks and how they perform.  We have to give the coaching staff time and evaluate them in the end.  Being butt-hurt about how many people Caldwell interviewed is frankly none of your business, and neither is it mine.  Caldwell's job is on the line if he hires a bad coach, so I'm sure he hired the guy that he thought was the best fit for this position.

We have to wait a couple of years before we can be really critical of Bradley's hire.  I believe Bradley will turn into a good coach in the NFL.  Give our roster some talent and I think he'll have us consistent competitors and contenders.

I absolutely agree.

You are very good at turning every thread into some argument about you. Congrats.

and you're very bad at assessing proper blame. You cite that above quote and dismiss what it was responding to. Congrats.

Whoever is doing the hiring is looking for some specific traits and abilities.  You don't have to interview 50 people if you find your guy early in the search.  I'm glad they at least hired someone who came from an organization that has had recent success, unlike the hiring of guys like Mularkey.

I'll give 'em that much. Hiring a coach who at lease appears on the "upward ascent" is a lot better than hiring that BUM Mike Mularkey who was clearly not an impressive hire at all. Most of us knew that, but some like FBT tried to defend the Mularkey hire when it was made.

In all honesty, I sometimes think FBT is a mole for the Jaguars organization. No disrespect intended, but I've been on this board for 3 years now, and I have not seen one post from him yet, that was critical about the team. It was the same; even when Gene Smith was running the show. How else would he know guys personally like JID and a bunch of other Admins who work for the site?

He wasn't a big supporter of David Garrard from what I remember.

Wow, a whole 3 years?

I don't know FBT personally, but I can vouch that he's been critical of a lot of the moves this organization has made.  He was actually one of the first ones to call for JDR's head, years before he was actually fired, among other things.
Quote:Better watch it or DragonFury will lock this thread and accuse you all of being 12-year-olds.  He's such an ugly snot face.

He's such an ugly snot face 12 year-old.
The team would've given up on Roman by now. At least, we'd be guaranteed Teddy

No....no he was not.

FBT made a single post critical of JDR sometime around the 2009/ 2010 season. He was far from one of the first to call for JDR's head. Not only that, but in subsequent posts afterwards, his stance regarding JDR softened, almost going against what he was saying in that single post previously.

let me rephrase:  He was the first one to make an actual coherent argument against JDR.

yes there were many people who would say "JDR needs to go" or "JDR is an idiot" but didn't have real substantive evidence.

Anyways, the point stands.  He is not a yes-man by any means.
