Awful interception for Hundley....maybe ALL the quarterbacks oughta think about staying in another year. After today, I'm really leaning more to Clowney or Barr

The casuals in this thread are so amusing. You can tell by their opinions changing over the course one game or even individual quarters.
Your minds should already be made up about many of these prospects, especially guys like Manziel and Mariota who are on national television every other week. Watch more games, I guess, and stop being swayed so violently by one good outing or terrible effort.

Don't want Mariota. I'll take Teddy in the top of the first or Johnny in the top of the second. The 'depth' of the QB is questionable. AJ might be a serviceable backup if we grab him in the 5th. The top QBs: Teddy, Johnny, and Mariota could all use an extra 10 lbs, but Johnny doesn't have the frame for it.

LOL! I wish someone told me that 30 lbs ago.

If our mind should already be made up, then what is the point of the combine and Pro Days?
Or the Senior Bowl?

How many times has your mind been actually changed about a first-round quarterback because of a pro day or the combine?
I can't imagine caring about things like the Wonderlic, the bench press, or how a QB looks throwing against air in drills, but I guess some people have been dumb enough to be swayed by staged workouts (i.e. Al Davis and JaMarcus Russell).

Guess you only pick one player in the draft, in the first round, then ignore all the other rounds.

I agree that folks overreact to one game commonly when "evaluating" players. This forum is littered with it. But having your mind made months before the draft is flawed by exactly the same principle.

Yep, NFL scouts don't even have their minds made up, you have to take in the entire process (Senior bowl, Combine, Pro days, and player interviews/investigations into account)
However I'm already sold on my opinion of Manziel and was way before this game took place. This game just validated a lot of fears I already had about his game that will hurt him at the next level.

I think he can carry 10 pounds, but he also needs a lot more than 10 pounds to absorb the type of hits he exposes himself to, because he's tiny for even the college game.
And no, he doesn't have the frame to carry a lot of extra weight. I mean anybody can become yoked out of their mind (or fat as they want). But when talking about "frame", it means his bone structure. He's kind of small and skinny, if he throws on a bunch of extra weight he's not going to be able to carry it without having it start effecting his athletic ability.. which is one of the pluses in his game. Steve Slaton is a prime example of this.. His rookie year he ran for 1,200 yards as a scat back/skinny RB.. He spent the offseason bulking up in order to be able to absorb hits and added about 20 pounds of muscle, his explosion and speed fell WAY off (things that made him special) and he was out of the league. He didn't have the frame to add that type of weight and carry it well where it didn't effect his athletic ability and Slaton was bigger than Manziel

What exactly is going to change about Johnny Manziel's arm strength between now and May? Or his ball placement? Or his natural tendencies when facing a pass rush? January through April is usually a time of over-analyzation for certain players, if anything. I couldn't tell what my team's options are at running back in the fourth round, but I'm not pretending to be able to; I've just watched A LOT of the top QB prospects at this point and know what I like and what I don't in each of them.
He could save some school children from a burning bus and help his image, I guess, but if you don't know who you like more between him or Teddy Bridgewater at this point -- especially given how different they play on the field -- then I can only assume some people have purposefully avoided forming an opinion on this.

I think Winston has single-handedly made whatever image problem Manziel had fade considerably by comparison.
