The thing with Gabbert is that, YES, the situation he was thrown in was as bad as it can be........BUT, he never flashed greatness only flashed averageness and seasons have been wasted and other players development have been affected by his total lack of improvement. I hoped he would pan out. If cut, no team would sign him to develop. He lost his job to Henne lol. I hope we find a QB next draft because its hard to watch
Quote:Have you seen the Jags' luck the past few seasons?
What QB left us and went on to success? Leftwich was much better than Gabbs and even he became a journeyman backup. Gabbs will be out of the league in one to two years more than likely.
Quote:I am guessing you were watching all his games without your very strong glasses if you didn't know this when he was playing

You can either whine and cry when you don't agree with the players that we currently have and make yourself look like a bedwetter, or get behind the current players we have since you have no say in what players are being fielded.. Your choice.. I've been pulling for Gabbert since the begining.. Doesn't mean he's a good qb, that meant he was our qb regardless and I'm not gonna wet the bed and throw hissy fits.

Lol, I pull for the Jaguars not for specific players, and if said players are hurting the team I don't want em playing. Your belligerent tone and elementary school insults lend me to believe that the particular pair of glasses you are looking through is a whole lot of beer. Gabbert sucks, a new situation won't magically change that, I'm sorry you have invested so much of your identity in his success, that you feel the need to lash out at anyone who was objective enough to see that he wasn't good from the start, and didn't improve.
I hope he goes to the CFL.  I don't want to have to ever watch him in an NFL game again.  Not even Preseason

Gabbert is still part of this team for now and if he has to enter the game for Henne, I wont whine and cry about it, I'll be behind our qb.. I'm only treating you in accordance to how you're acting.
To answer your question....yes

He wont be in the league next year

The Jaguars need to bring in two new quarterbacks next season.  One through the draft and acquire a veteran QB via free agency or trade.  They simply cannot bring back this conga line of ineptitude that is their two QBs.

I just hope his Jaguar career is over. I have seen more then enough of him to know he isn't the guy and never will be here.

It's up to him if his NFL career is over. He has many things to work on and get much better at. He has some of the tools to be at least a backup in the NFL, but he MUST work on the mental part, get some real confidence in himself and learn to stand in the pocket under pressure and throw an accurate ball.

I'm just amazed that I see rookies and 2nd and 3rd string QB's come in, play reasonably well, and win football games, on the road even, and we look so bad with a 6 yr vet in there and a 3rd yr top 10 QB on the bench.

I never even heard of rookie Matt Mc Gloin and he throws 3 TD's, no INT's, in his first NFL start and wins on the road, against a team that will probably beat the Jags next week.

What else is there to say??

He'll start of Chicken joint called BFB......

He'll land a backup job somewhere.  I hope so because the kid has a huge amount of heart.

No he probably will be starting next week. there is just no way to go on with henne who cant even get 10 yards to even get a fg.

Quote:Absolutely. His confidence is shot as an NFL QB.

People use the excuse that he was thrown into the deep end too early to be a starting QB. When you are drafted at #10, you are expected to play right away. Gabbert fooled a lot of people at Mizzou because the Jags aren't the only people who had high grades on him.

Gabbert never had a chance. He had no choice of where he was drafted.

Count the coordinators. Count the offenses. Count the head coaches. Count the sorry offensive line. Count the sorry receivers. Count the Gator fans back-stabbing him all over the place.

Sure, he's expected to play right away (yeah, right), but which offense was he supposed to learn?

He never had a chance after the day David Garrard was knifed in the back by Gene Smith.

He'll be a backup somewhere maybe

The moment Gabbert curled up in the fetal position during his QB draw from the 7 yard line is the moment the coaches drove the final nail in the coffin on his career as a Jag.  It is only fitting that he ended his career here the same way he played it for 3 years, scared and timid.

He didn't have a chance here because he was never that good of a prospect to begin with. Gene Smith drafted him based on his measurables and supposed "high potential".

A well spoken, 6'4 240 lb, big arm QB prospect who scored 40-ish in his wonderlic. Yup, he must have amazing upside. At least that was what Gene Smith was thinking. Never mind that he didn't have good mechanics, poor footwork, no pocket awareness, underwhelming college production in a spread offense and never taken any snap from under center.

Yeah, he was drafted to a bad team, but why can't all the apologists just admit that he is a bust who happened to be drafted to a bad situation?

If he was any good, shouldn't he at least stand out from the crowd, even if the Jags were losing? Three straight years since he came to the league, he was considered the worst starting QB in each year.
On one play Gus was smiling, slapping butts, happy, and Gabbert had a look that said it all. Hands on hips, looked to be in a pout, not smiling or looked the least bit happy we were moving the ball. He has some growing up to do.

He's done, at least here.

Quote:I'm conflicted. On the one hand I want him to redeem his career and turn out as a fine starting NFL quarterback. On the other hand, I don't because it would almost certainly mean he'd be playing for another team, and it would be just the Jaguars luck to release Gabbert only for him to become a starter somewhere else.
Gabbert never had a chance here. Rabid Tebow fans angry, foaming at the mouth for not drafting their hero. Gene Smith and Wayne Weaver stabbing David Garrard in the back. Dirk the OC one year. Absolutely nobody at OC last year. Terrible college level OC this year.

There was the lock-out. Weaver and Co. slashing Garrard to cut payroll effectively proving their football incompetence.

Teddy Bridgewater will take one look at the draft order, see Gus and Dave grinning ear to ear, and he'll decide to play out his senior season at Louisville.
