We have one for just about every other sport out there...

Kicking things off, the VCU Rams started this season ranked in the Top 25 for the first time ever. They went to UVA last night and knocked off a #25 ranked team that beat Duke last season. Something that this game pointed out though is that the new "hand check" rules may really slow down the college game. I'm not so sure I like it.

Basketball players are tall.

We'll have none of your monkeyshines here today, sir; this is serious business.

My monkey has more of a matte finish.

I prefer monkeys with more of a satin finish...they are much easier to clean.

if there's one thing I can't stand, its a dirty monkey.
Why would anyone put a dirty satin monkey on a college basketball court?

Exactly!
Wiggins and Jabari Parker both look as good as advertised.
Yeah they do. It's scary how good some of these Freshmen are nowadays.

The rule brings basketball closer to what it was meant to be. The NBA and College basketball became a completely different game over the past 15-20 years. The level of physical play teams got away with was to much. Not how basketball was meant to be played.

To play basketball...duh.
I hereby grant permission for you to dub this the "**OFFICIAL**" college basketball thread.

Congratulations Deacon Blues. I always had faith in you.

I watched my Kentucky Wildcats lose to Michigan State last night.  Realistically I didn't expect a win because they're such a young team that was going against a well established opponent.  I liked what I saw.  They started out looking like the Jags but bounced back and was able to keep it competitive in the second half.  Good things are coming as the season wears on.

Go Big Blue!

I was unaware of this new hand check rule until Julius Randle was called for a foul.  I was like "What?!" and my son was like "What?" and I was like "That's not a foul.  That's been done in basketball since, like, a long time ago."  and he was like, "Oh" and I was like "What the hell is going on here?" and then the announcing crew was like "That's a new rule this year" and I was like "You've got to be kidding me?!"  and my son was like (shrug) and I was like "This is BULL [BLEEP]!" and the announcers were like "Yeah, we know".

So, like, yeah.

Well, let's move it mods.  Make it so.

If they would have hit their free throws they would have won by 8. Julius Randle is going to be a BEAST!!!!!

Don't sleep on Florida. They are missing 4 key players - Wilbekin, Finney-Smith, Harris and Walker. The Gators you see in January will be much different then the club that almost took out Wisconsin last night. I was very impressed how the short handed Gators played last night.

Agreed.  Free throws have always been a maddening problem with Calipari.  It's obvious he doesn't emphasize the skill in practice.  They also couldn't hit any threes.  It looked to me that he just told the team to bring it in and not even attempt from beyond the arc.  Maybe not, but it sure looked like their attempts decreased in the second half.

No doubt about that. There were walk ons on the court in crunch time last night. Won't be that way long.
