Quote:I feel pretty confident about our chances of starting our reign over the whole afc south in two years. We will have the best qb and reciever in the division with bridgewater and Blackmon and Caldwell really seems to know what he's doing. The arrow is pointing down for the colts and the jags is definitely going up.

The Jaguars have been 2 years away, or less since the AFCS was formed.

2002 - AFCS Created. Jaguars Franchise in "Salary Cap Hell". Draft John Henderson & Mike Pearson 1&2, the cornerstones to building the lines on both sides of the ball. ... (6-10) 2 years away.

2003 - TC fired, Shack Harris hired, Jack Del Rio hired, Draft Byron Leftwich, Rashean Mathis, Vince Manuwai ... (5-11) 2 Years away.

2004 - Draft Reggie Williams, The new Thunder and Lightning is born ... (9-7) 2 Years away.

2005 - Draft Matt Jones ... (12-4) Next Year

2006 - This is our season (oops) ... (8-8) Next Year

2007 - Reggie Nelson is Sick, told you this was our year ... (11-5) Next Year

2008 - Derrick Harvey, and Quentin Groves are going to put Manning down, and put him down hard. Vic "Hears that train a comin' "... (5-11) Okay, next year, because Harvey will go through a full training camp.

2009 - With Shack Harris now gone, new uniforms, and an emphasis placed on player character the in Gene we trust era begins by drafting the best ever QB protection with their 1st & 2nd (Monroe and Britton), and also the best Krazy reaction of all time when Gene trades up to take Cox ... (7-9) "Give Gene 2 years, we are 2 years away"

2010 - Wow! We got Alualu, D'Anthony Smith, Larry Hart, and Austen Lane ... Don't know all of them but Gene Smith is awesome ... (8-8) 2 Years away.

2011 - Draft Blaine Gabbert, then fire Del Rio ... (5-11) With a new coach 2 Years away, you will see when our rookie QB goes through a full off season ... You just watch.

2012 - Oh God what happened? Mularkey hired, New Owner, and then the Train is leaving the station (Probably the same Train Vic talked about that never showed up), Then Gene Smith moves up to the 5 spot to draft a player with character issues (Blackmon) ... (2-14) Just wait when we draft Geno, we will be 2 years away ... You just watch.

2013 - Gene Smith gone, Mularkey gone, David Caldwell & Gus Bradley are going to turn this franchise around we may be 0-4 ... But when we draft Bridgewater, we will be just 2 years away.

Dear Lord, you people are the one's that TMD talks about, the Homers in the Teal Glasses. He may have predicted every last one of those events. Maybe the Jaguars should hire TMD to be GM. Wow! Tongue
Andrew Luck may not be as great as Manning, but he's the best QB in the division right now.

This is a pretty fair post.

The issue as you have clearly laid out for us is player acquisition.  The Jaguars, over the past 10, I would be willing to bet have had the worst track record of player acquisition in NFL history over the same time span. Or close to it.  Shack Harris and Gene Smith have driven this franchise to depths of futility that will take some time to rectify.

I was going to cite the "yearly" Jaguars "marketing" catch phrases to go along with each year, but it has become somewhat comical (very comical)... And it ticks me off more than anything because I go believing it every year, and then BAM! ... "In your face, Sammy". It like reminds me of my earlier years when the Colts pitched their new brand every season, too. Come to think of it, do you guys remember that one team that one year? "Yay, Go Team!"..."Kill the Head!"

Or something like that.

Ahhh, The good ol' days are back in the division. Death to the enemy. :woot:   Love

Yes I do "Like this!"

This could be post of the year. Its dead on accurate. Nothing reads better than a cold, hard, truth.

Quote:I'm impressed with the Colts.....but unimpressed with Trent Richardson, so far anyway... He looks just as "average" in Indy as he was in Cleveland.

Agreed. RIchardson so far has not looked good. Its a bad sign when even Donald Brown rushes better than you in the Colts backfield. I hope things improve.
Oh my OP, you are so off base it's embarrassing. The only part of your argument that can hold any water is that TRich hasn't looked impressive (which is true), but I'm willing to give him more time. He's been here less than two weeks.

-Andrew Luck was a perfect 158.3 passer rating in the 2nd half (not sure how that quantifies as average).

-Werner has gotten better each week (he looked REALLY good against SF) and then he got injured during Jags game (during 1st or maybe early 2nd quarter) and didn't return. Don't know why you commented on him, he barely played lol.

-Brown is not as good as TRich. Brown is a speedster. Get him in open space and he can run (which we saw Sunday), TRich excels in pass blocking and Brown is porous when it comes to that. Hopefully Ahmad will be back soon, because as of right now he does look like our best RB.

-Polian & Grigson are COMPLETELY opposite. They can not be any more different.

Nice try OP, but you failed on this one.

EDIT: Also not to mention (which I realize you 'forgot' to mention) the Colts defense has been rocking the last two weeks on the road at SF and then against the Jags (defense has absolutely dominated the last two weeks). We'll see if it continues against another tough opponent in the Seahawks.

Are you seriously complimenting your defense when they played vs Blaine gabbert??? Haha just stop.

The reason I threw in Werner is because he is not a first round talent and probably would have slipped into late second round and that you will not have a first round pick next year. So as a jag fan I say to you keep on wasting your first round pick, it makes it that much easier for us to catch up.

What I am trying to point out is that colts will never be good enough with the pieces they have to ever be a serious threat in the playoffs if they keep up the trend they are in.

I guess we can just agree to disagree on luck.

I find this thread hilarious. So if I understand correctly, the QB sucks and the GM is always making the wrong moves, yet the 3-13 team they went to is 14 - 7 since their arrival? Please explain. And don't tell me they were a talented team that tanked. There are only three remaining starters from that 3-13 team - Wayne, Mathis, and Bethea (I guess four if you want to count the perpetually injured Angerer's rookie year).

They seem to have something going for them. Maybe it's the punter....

The Colts played the 49ers. In San Francisco. I mentioned that. You can't read.

Bolded part: All of your points were pointed out as flaws. You're left with nothing.

On your last sentence: You can't disagree with facts. You'll lose every time. Luck was a perfect (literally) 158.3 passer rating in the 2nd half Sunday.
Dating back to last year the Colts have won 8 of their last 10 regular season games. Things are going in the right direction. Tough matchup this week vs. Seattle. At least we get them at home.

So where to start. Andrew Luck set every passing record for a rookie QB. He took a 2-14 team to 11-5 and a playoff berth. He set the record for most fourth quarter/overtime game winning drives in a season by any player(including vet, AS A ROOKIE!!) Did he throw a lot of picks his rookie season? Was his completion percentage not great his rookie season? Sure. But ask yourself how many picks did manning throw his rookie season? Alot more than luck. Luck went from a power run game system where he tore up defenses to a "air raid" arians system with the worst o line in the league. And still he tore defenses up and made incredible plays that not many qbs could do. Now he is back in a system that fits him. He has an improved o line. his completion percentage is 10% better than last year so far. 65% is on par with all the top qbs. Is he tearing ds up and throwin 300+ every game? No because we have the 4th ranked rushing team in the league. He can easily do it but he isnt needed to.

Offense-Total Offense Rank (yds/gm): Colts 10,Total Scoring Offense Rank (pts/gm): Colts 8.... reggie wayne will have a bust in canton when all is said and done. Ty Hilton has been more impressive as a third rounder than justin blackmon has as a first rounder. We have the top up and coming set of TE's in the game even tho Allen is out for the season fleener is no chump. DHB has played so much better since he got a change of senary. Trich has been with the team 2 weeks. he is still learning the run blocking system and not to mention he faces stacked boxes whereas dbrowns big run against the jags was against 6 in the box and the rest in coverage. anyone can run on that. The best part about this? The only one retiring anytime soon in reggie. Everyone else is young and willl dominate together.

Defense-Total Defense Rank (yds/gm): Colts 8, Total Scoring Defense Rank (pts/gm): Colts 4.... robert mathis is 1 or 2 in the league in sacks this season. Jerrell Freeman was a great find out of the CFL and has played oustanding. Werner was a top five pick until he had a bad combine and was a steal in the end of the first. he has been progressing and got set back by the foot injury. Josh Chapman is doing what he did for alabama on a torn ACL, being the brick wall NT he needs to be. Corey Redding is a great motivator and team leader, also has a knack for batting passes. Two young corners in davis and toler who have both played excellent football and a nickleback in davis who loves to take em to the house on you guys. The starting safety duo of Bethea/Landry is the best in the league(when landry is healthy). Most of everyone i mentioned isnt that old and still has many productive years ahead of them. They are playing at a stellar level right now.

In Conclusion- The Colts arent going anywhere. This is our division. We have ruled it since it began and will continue to do so. Bridgewater. Bring him on! Hes played against weak competition and never a down in the NFL yet. Franchise Qbs are not a dime a dozen like stated by another poster. Bridgewater may be one. It sure would be nice to have some competition in the AFCS. To say the colts are trending down is ludacris. We are trending up up and away! Mark my words. We will hoist the Lombardi within the next five years

Why are you Colts fans so defensive?!

All I saw last weekend was that your best players are still the old guard. Wayne,Mathis, Bethea. Reminds me of 08 jags you guys think like we did that the window is opening but I bet in a few years we find it was closing. You just can't blow this many 1st rounders
Luck is not being asked to be Manning. The Colts are striving to be more balanced between running and passing, but right now, some of the Colts' weapons are out with injuries.

Richardson is playing with about 1/4 of the playbook (which is why when TRich is on the field, the Colts run one of the same 4-5 plays). They can only incorporate him into so many looks in 3 practices a week.

Besides, last time I looked at Sunday's stats, he did better than MJD...

Banana Nothing reads better than the truth.
Unimpressed? That is certainly your opinion. Being that you are a Jags fan, not surprised at your observations.

The Colts D has allowed only feild goals in the last two games. Yes, one of those games was against the arguably worst team in the NFL, but still only allowed a feild goal. Thats what good teams do, shut down bad teams. If you didnt catch that, WE ARE GOOD.

Ill ask the question, which qb from the afcs would you like to have on your team? Gabbard? Locker? Schaub? NOOOOO, every team would pick Luck as their starter with no questions asked. All Luck has done is win games. A lot of games as a matter of fact.

Best there is, best there was, best that will ever be, INDY!!!!

This a forum.

Things get tossed back and forth. That's how forums work, it's not called being defensive. It's calling someone BS.... well, BS.

If right now I started a thread in main forum section that stated something along the lines "Jaguars will never win another game. Ever. Not this year or any other year going forward! (and then provided some made up facts to go along with it)" Do you think that would go over well for me?

Sure I would have to pick Luck among afcs qbs. But that might be the lowest bar in the nfl. I was expecting a lot more with the "second coming of Peyton manning and dominate the division for another 10 years" type qb. He's just been average to me in everything he does and his accuracy is just plain bad. He really hasn't lived up to that hype and if I had to rank him among nfl qbs he would be around 13-15 range. As a jaguar fan I am just happy he isn't another manning and your gm keeps wasting first round picks. Your team isn't getting any younger and that window will close faster than you realize. Love it and keep up the good work colts!
If the Colts beat the Seahawks, the discussion is closed.  The colts are the real deal.

If the Seahawks win, though... the OP is probably right.  Good enough, but not great.

To be decided Sunday!

Quote:and his accuracy is just plain bad

Luck's accuracy is 64.1%.  12th best in the league among starters.  That's better than Big Ben, Locker, Wilson, Newton, Kaepernick, Flacco, Vick, Ponder, RGIII and...

Tom Freaking Brady (58.9%).

You might want to wear a less conspicuous shade of teal on those glasses.  The homerism is blinding.
