shut up man...we have a right to moan/ complain/ whatever you label it. This team has pretty much stunk since 1999. Yet, guess what?....were still here, hoping the right moves eventually get made and they finally go on a prolonged period of winning again.

Don't tell us how to act when you're sitting there fresh off back to back NFCC & superbowl appearances.
well 49ers suck for most of past 10 years too  i stand by them like i am with jags  bulls and magic,

it will take time,

...the 49ers ruff patch also came after a decade and a half of perennial division titles as well as 5 superbowl titles. Any Jags fan would take that.
Quote:Depends on what QB they draft in the 2nd. Clowney + Morris would be huge for this franchise.

Yeah, a huge mistake.

They may as well trade for a guy like Josh Freeman if they're going to take a guy like Morris. Both are similar level in terms of NFL prospects in my opinion. Average. This team needs a too QB and I don't picture that being Morris.

If we sit at the top of the draft and an elite QB prospect presents itself, they better not make the mistake and pass. Last year would have been different, there were no elite QB's to be taken at the top.

Potential franchise QB > everything else.
Quote:Only a jackass would compare Luck's draft hype/status to Bridgewater's.

While it's premature to go that far, they are not that different. Bridgewater shows elite level QB traits, traits not every QB has. His pocket awareness and ability to move around in the pocket is spectacular. We have a ways to go but Teddy Bridgewater so far has looked like the real deal. He's given me no reason to think he's not going to be a too level QB. We shall see how the story ends but thus far he's been pretty darn good and as I've said, any potential franchise QB > anyone else. Including Clowney.
I hate what Gene Smith did to this team.  Yes Gene is to blame for how bad this roster was.

Does not matter because I have been a fan since '95 and continue to be one.  I take lots of flack for it but one day this team will be good again.  The big question is how long is this rebuild going to be.

1.  Lets say the team uses primarily the draft to build this team. The team realisticlly needs: QB, TE, Oline,Dline,RB,LB, CB and depth.  If we get lucky and find 3 good players in the next few drafts, thats going to take atleast 3 years just to aquire the players.  If you add in development time for said players we can be talking up to 5 years for this team to be a playoff contender.  That is a ton of patience for a fanbase that has already endured 5 bad years of mediocre football.

2.  Say the team spends money in free agency. The jaguars were close to the cap this offseason if you do not include the one time carry over.  Add to the fact that some of the veterans will not return.  I think it's unclear how much cap room this team will has this next offseason.  Signing a few players in key areas could dramatically improve this football team.

Quote:Another two years of good draft clasess and free agency.  About 20 additions, not solely one.

You act like the team can't do both.

Do you realize that there were a lot of people saying exactly what you are saying about Geno Smith? I get it that you love Bridgewater, but every year there is a QB people fall in love with.

It doesn't really matter what people say.  Let his play speak for itself.

yeah, no kidding...

Every available avenue should be explored for improving this team in the offseason, whether that be draft, free agency or trades.

I don't remember Geno having the kind of pocket presence/ awareness to the level that Bridgewater has shown,

Sure I understand that and I'll admit I liked Geno as a prospect. Not nearly as much as I do Teddy though. I feel Bridgewater right now has potential to be a top end quarterback. Not just potential, HIGH potential. I got the same feeling the first time I watched RGIII in Baylor's first game a few years ago. Both Teddy and RGIII (also Andrew Luck) gave me the feeling they were going to be special. I think Robert Griffin III's elite talents are being wasted in Shannahan's run option offense. He's a pocket passer and he should be a pocket passer with the ability to run ONLY when necessary ala Aaron Rodgers. I hope that this team ends up with a top QB regardless of who it is but I feel strongly about Teddy Bridgewater and I will until he gives me reasons not to.
Quote:No matter how bad things may get with this team, those of us who have been here through thick and thin will continue to support this team.

The first two games have certainly been a test for most, and the frustrations we all feel are only natural. But, a time will come when this team is on the upswing, and success returns. These challenging times will make it all that much sweeter.

Patience is going to be required, but I continue to remain optimistic we have the right people in place to address the years of abuse this team has been subjected to. It won't be a quick fix, but most things worth having take time to develop.

It's not a pretty picture right now, but it will get better.

Agreed in spades.  While things are as bad as they've probably ever been these things are cyclic.  I can still remember the novelty of the 90s and as recently as 2010, being one win away from the division title.  Things turn around quick.
I'm fine with being called the "Bridgewater Brigade". There was a time when my opinions would get me lumped in with the "bib brigade" and "chicken little crew" but I was right. Hopefully this time it will be for the better.

You advocate good drafting but you would not take the best qb prospect this year whom many feel has the best chance of becoming a franchise qb? At some point, Caldwell will have to DRAFT a qb, preferably one that many believe is the best prospect.

The irony of this post is going to escape a lot of board members here. However, I would point out that while Mr.FBT talks NOW about the "years of abuse" this team has been subjected to, I cannot remember one instance where the OP ever criticized any front office personnel, or coach while they were active.

When Shack was here, if his decisions were questioned, the response would be "WHO ARE YOU TO JUDGE?"

Same with Del Rio, Mularkey, Gene Smith, on and on.

Only in hindsight do we get an admission of "years of abuse".

So who gave us years of abuse FBT,  now that you are willing to speak after they have left town?

Sorry, Skippy.  Anyone who has been on this board long enough knows just how full of bovine excrement the above actually is.  I was blasted years ago (2010 to be exact) for starting a thread calling for Jack Del Rio to be fired.

More recently, I've been extremely critical of the new ownership over moves they've made that I felt were suspect.  Again, I didn't obsess over it. I simply stated my displeasure, and I got hammered for it by many here.  You must have been too busy hiding under a rock.

I've been critical when I have seen issues.  The fact that I don't soil myself, or complain incessantly apparently means I'm not critical enough for you.

Keep on flailing.

I dont recall any posts about Del rio's failings until it was OBVIOUS he was out the door.

Nor any for Shack, nor Gene Smith.

You have spent 45 million posts defending the company line, which is fine, your opinion,

but to now say you feel optimistic the right people are in place, what makes you feel that way?

Because frankly, you said the same about Gene Smith and Mularkey.

I am not optimistic, because if anything our team is worse than ever, and your track record is just as bad in making decisions about who was good and bad calling the shots.

We have no idea if the right people are in place bottom line.

I will keep my fingers crossed, but easy on the optimism you always dish.

I understand you have a job to do, but after so many personnel changes, your optimism means little.
