At the time I thought Joeckel was a mistake. Monroe was one of our best players going into that draft. Then again, I'm a big advocate for trading down. I wanted the Jags to trade down in 2014 and 2015 too, but not this year.

I thought Bortles was a mistake, but when the final round was completed I gave Caldwell an A for that draft. I'm still confused about Bortles. Was last year the aberration, or this year?

Right now one can't separate the quality of the draft picks from the coaching. Would Blake have turned out better under a different coaching staff? Cyprien? Gratz?

Who really knows?

2013 and 2015 drafts sucked. In 2014 he drafted a QB who's self described as "not a natural thrower". Hired Gus Bradley.

Time to go.

And who is better?  All these people say fire Dave?   Yet no names to see the body of work otherwise?   GM is a very difficult job.   Very few are efficient. Others don't have to be such as ne account of qb.

You're right, if the GM hits on the QB it gives him a whole lot of rope to suck otherwise. If they don't hit on the QB they have to be extremely good otherwise to make up for it.

Unfortunately, Dave has missed on the QB and also hasn't been extremely good otherwise.

He has found some nice players, but hiring Gus is strike one, two, and three in my opinion.

that is a TERRIBLE excuse lol. Would you stay in a bad relationship with your wife and think "well, who is better?" lol. dont answer that. some idiots do. but that is DUMB!! if he sucks...fire him...give someone else a chance.
When was the last time we heard from Caldwell actually?
I can't wait for caldwells end of the year press conference when he says how awesome TJ Yeldon is as a pass protector and 3rd down back, how Blake has yet again thrown for 30 TDs, how Dante Fowler is stout against the run, how Cyprien once again had over 100 tackles.
Yannick, Lee, Ramsey, Jack, Robinson, Telvin, Malik, Hurns, Ivory, Yeldon.. I think thats enough reasons. Hes pretty decent for a gm.

Yeldon? Lol

You hand picked a handful of players with a GM who has had an open check for free agency, busted on 3 out of his 4 top 5 picks, and has a team that can't win more than a few games a year.  Wow expectations have dropped

Even replacing Yeldon with Linder who he didn't list, 10 good players from 4 full drafts of top 5 picks and the most cap space in league history to play with ain't pretty decent.
Yeldon is garbage.

Unfortunately that's true. I think Caldwell has supplied this team with some talent but he has had some misses
Too many misses compared to his hits.  With year after year of top 5 draft picks, Calwell "should" have at least a few all pros on the roster, and he doesn't (outside of ARob).  Extending Gus when he clearly wasn't the answer at HC and you just can't justify keeping Caldwell.  He's the architect behind the worst HC in NFL history.

True they were a bit of a reach. Ivory is actually good tho, and Yeldon is servicable 3rd down back.

Thank you, I forgot Linder. Anyway, those 10 players I expect to be with us for at least the next few years. Much longer than any 10 from Gene. Caldwell isnt perfect, but if you remove the first draft where he still had Genes scouts. Hes been alright. Almost 50/50. Thats about as good as it gets in nfl. Yeah he had some high profile misses, but he has also got some real gems. Even a guy like myers who just sucked his first year here has really come around to looking decent. And he actually got us 1 pass rusher who gets savks in Yannick. We basically havent drafted a good pass rusher in over a decade.
i think Caldwell deserves a 2 year pass

I think Bortles should get a 2 year pass as well

We just desperately need a coach who can actually teach young talent

Neither deserve two more years at all. They havent done anything to warrant getting more time.
