Kinda early for this so if just basing off what we have seen...QB, O line kicker, but really need to let the season play out first and redo this then.
Or.....we could just make sure we hit on the quarterback we take when we take them.

Having said that, I'd look to take a QB every couple years in the later rounds of the draft no matter who you have at QB because I feel the reward outweighs the risk.

This! However, if Blake gets injured and the team has to pony up for that 5th year not sure if Cousins would even be an option.

We've spent so much on defensive players over the past couple of seasons, there is no way we could afford what it would take to sign Cousins to a long term deal, so that is pretty much off the table. It would put us way over the cap.
Should aim to draft a Quarterback every year or every other year personally for me. Within reason of course. If you feel a guy can play or at least develop behind your already capable starter you should consider it. Given our history these last ten years I almost feel it's a necessity.

I agree.
I don't think they need to draft two necessarily, but I really hoped they'd draft a mid round QB and guard in 2017. Still bothered that they didn't.

I expect them to draft one early or pay dearly for one in FA next year.
I like Brandon Allen a lot and thought he has played well every opportunity he has gotten. But the better he plays the less playing time he gets and it's clear this coaching staff thinks very low of him. Therefore he shouldn't even be on the team and we do need to bring in 2 new QBs next year if it's through the draft or FA

Same. Still on the fence about the Smoot pick in RD3. We passed on Feeney, Elflein and Garcia that could have added more depth and starting potential.

I don't mind passing up on a QB in RD1 - RD2 either. Fournette and Robinson make sense to me. That's fine. But not going after Peterman, Webb and even Dobbs in RD3 - RD5 was disappointing for me as well.

Shame on the front office though if Mahomes, Watson and/or Kizer end up being productive at some point as rookies this year.

I know I have some Iowa bias but CJ Beathard was readily available in round 3.  If possible he would have been available in a trade down as he didn't go until later in the 3rd.  The Smoot pick doesn't excite me but hopefully he succeeds here and we don't have to play the what if game. CJ has a long way to go in development but more competition at the QB position would have been nice.

My gut tells me the team has a higher confidence in Allen which could be why they skipped out on a QB in the early to mid rounds.
At this point, I don't understand why Brandon Allen wasn't given a chance with the first team.
I'd be more inclined to take one, Bortles choosing by his performance whether that's in rounds 1/2 or 3/4.
In any other year, I wouldn't advocate the Jags drafting QBs with their first two picks. But next year seems to be a good year for the position, so why not draft the best two QBs you can?

As for vets, I'd love to have Cousins or Stafford, but I can't see their respective teams letting them go.

Washington may have no choice, since they can't tag Cousins anymore. I think he's gone, but who ever gets him will have to sign him to a huge contract that we can't afford. Stafford signed a 5 year extension tonight, so he's not going anywhere.
Coughlin watched Kirk Cousins up close and personal. I think he's a good QB and if he's worth it Tom will make it happen. No doubt.
We need QB, OG, OG, RT. In either or any order. We need serious help on the O Line, the fact we did such a poor job addressing QB(There wasn't much out there) and O line(Smoot pick, instead of going OG with some nice picks available in the mid rounds, not opting on for Beachum, Going with the dud Albert) was a major let down in my eyes going into 2017.

We could have had a serviceable run LT with good pass pro, a rookie OT who could swing to RT or OG and likely have a bigger impact in year one, drafted another OG to push Cann(and eventually take over later in the year) and give us some solid youth/talent.

Instead we traded for a dud who didn't want to come here, passed on the Beachum option, Skipped on a OG in the draft and are putting all of our hope into a rookie LT and Linder. Yikes.

We need to draft nothing but QBs and O linemen next year. We are solid everywhere else.
Why pay for average in FA if you can draft a potential elite early? I don't think TC would advocate a guy his teams handled pretty well. As expressed, an early and mid to late pick at QB seems fine to me. 1 and 2 however is too whacky and financially wayward. QB is the most sensitive position; competition between your first and second picks rings chaotic to me.
Draft a QB in round 1 and OL heavy after that...
R1 QB
R2 OL
R3 QB
R4 OL
R5 QB
R6 OL
R7 QB
I'll give it some time. I've come to the realization that 2017 is going to be a throw away year. This without a doubt must be Caldwell's last year here in Jacksonville. Unless some crazy 1996 miracle happens there's no way in hell he's here in 2018.

The one thing I do recall about Coughlin. No matter where he's been. He typically has a great eye for offensive lineman, defensive lineman and receivers. I think if he ends up taking full control of the personnel in 2018 there's a good chance he'll slowly but surely get this corrected. This a guy that's known to find talented lineman late or at least lands them where it counts.
