I loved the call and think that it will benefit the team in the long run. Marrone definitely isn't going to play when it comes to this type of stuff and getting Fournette another week of rest is a good thing. It will be interesting to see how motivated Leonard is next week when he gets back on the field....will be fun to watch for sure!
If these kids (and yes for the most part they are kids) can't follow the rules then they need to learn that there are consequences.  Everyone doesn't get a trophy and every player isn't above the rules.

Marrone was his head coach for two years with the bills. I'm sure he is more familiar with how Marrone runs things than anyone on this roster.

This is a bush league move.

That 7 year old learned that rules matter, and no one member is more important than the team.

Great point rollerjag.  It becomes a teachable moment that the kid and 904Net never forget.
LOL the first few pages of whine and cry in this thread is gold. Plenty of good laughs to be had from posters who have yet to re show their faces in this thread.

With that said, I hope Fournette now realizes that he isn't bigger than this team. Back to back wins without him.

This should be a wake up call to him and anybody/everybody else on the roster. Nobody gets a free pass. Not even the high profile top draft pick.

This team lacked discipline, direction and accountability under Gus. This team doesn't lack that stuff anymore.
Marrone lucked out with benching Fournette. I bet if his jobs on the line, Fournette plays.

You know what they say about ifs?  Even if we lost today, this was about more than a win or a loss.  It was a statement
I’ll eat my crow. Wasn’t sure if it was the right decision, because to me I felt like the rest of the team was being punished for Fournette’s transgression; but if anything it galvanized the team in a way it seems.

Reminds me of our 2008 game with Cleveland. Braylon Edwards was suspended for the game and many thought we’d win easy; but Vic warned there was reasons behind the scenes and that the Browns would play better and sure enough they came out firing and won

Sometimes the rest of the team does need to be punished, for it to sink into said player's head not to make stupid mistakes, or continue to do wrong.

I liken it a little bit to back when I was in practices during high school football. If somebody made a mistake once, it was ok. He got pulled to the side, went over the mistake and corrected it. If it kept happening, the person making the mistake would stand and watch, while EVERYBODY else on the team would have to drop down and do push ups, etc etc.
This from Profootballtalk:

"Field Yates of ESPN reports that Fournette missed the team photo earlier this week. Jay Glazer of FOX Sports reports the same and adds that Fournette also missed a workout and treatment for the ankle injury that kept him out in Week Seven."
This is the result of a Jags win... everyone agrees.... but I guarantee if the Jags lost people would lose their mind that Fournette was benched. Look, team rules are team rules but for missing a damn meeting u bench a guy? COME ON man...

Don't miss a meeting. It's not hard, you'e getting paid millions if coach invites you to a tea party you show up. Is what it is. What surprises me is Fournette seems like a responsible guy, so I'm wondering what his excuse was.

It was multiple violations of team rules. This wasn't a one time thing. They made it clear that there were multiple violations, but they weren't going to go into details about them.
Buuwwwaaaa!!!

Man, I'm betting quite a few of you hope this thread disappears as quick as possible. Some of you all looking quite foolish with your posts. You know who you are.

That's one of the best points that can be made.  Fournette needs to learn that missing meetings and violating team rules doesn't just hurt him, it hurts the team.   He needs to have his teammates mad at him for getting himself suspended.  Peer pressure is powerful.   Yes, you punish the team.  Absolutely.  His teammates will take some responsibility and straighten him up.

And there is the added benefit of letting the other guys know, if you follow the rules, you play.  What would it say to Ivory or Yeldon if Fournette started that game?  That rules don't matter if you're a starter?

Wow. I hadn't even seen this thread.  I can't believe that whine fest over a one game susp on a player coming off an injury anyway.

Some of the same people crying and moaning about "no discipline" under Gus just completely flipped out at the first sign of discipline from Marrone.  LOL.

We've got a solid stable of whiners around here, that's for sure.
I don't think they felt he was healthy yet, and decided to just make up this weak violation

No, they wouldn't damage a guy's reputation by suspending him unless it was thoroughly justified.
