Quote:Bortles should have spent the off season visiting California to keep working on his mechanics. That's not on the team. That's his fault for not trying to improve himself.
Agreed. It's been said multiple times, mechanics are an offseason duty. This obviously wasn't prioritized highly enough this past offseason.
He looks and sounds as dumb as gus
Quote:Question is, Why did it take 8 weeks to do this? Its been happening since the preseason
Because Gus...

He's really expressive. I've never seen someone so hyper at a press conference.
Quote:I don't trust anyone named Nathaniel. Nathan...sure. Nate...yeah. Nathaniel...no way.
Negan?

It's Gus. He's not really the brightest crayon in the box.
I like his energy and he's saying the right things (Hackett) but at this point...results are all that matters, and it's going to be REALLY hard to convince me Gus can win consistently.
Watched Hackett presser just now. DUDE IS HYPER AS HELL.
For the love God, let these QB gurus be able to fix whatever the [BLEEP] is wrong with Bortles. He has been a totally different QB than he was last year. I will happily gobble up all my angry posts about Bortles if he can clean his play up...

I pulled up some college highlights of Bortles today. He looked more natural throwing then than he does now.
Can I coordinator pound turnovers, fumbles and protection so much into a QB that they think so much that they can't throw the ball? I guess the answer is yes but jeez what the heck is up with this team.
I couldn't watch his presser.
I tried, but his gasping for breath thing made me nervous.

Is it possible he'd been hearing one thing from his QB coach, another from the OC, and something else from the HC?
Maybe he just tuned it all out.
Makes sense based on his performance.

I think it's very possible that between House, Hackett, Olson and Scelfo (2014) he was getting just enough contrasting advice to get himself all screwed up.

= basket case Bortles
Quote:= basket case Bortles
Very plausible.
I think it looks very very possible he was coached more into "taking what the defense gives you" this year.
Yeldon has been more involved than Robinson.

That was definitely part of it too, but I felt like (watching some of his deep pass attempts early on) it may have been wise as his accuracy was so far off.
Those 50/50 balls were turning into 70/30 balls in favor of the defender(s).
I watched his press conference, I really like his energy. The thing that I noticed was he said something along the lines of "I relayed what Olson wanted to do to Blake"
That seems to make sense of Blake struggling and Hackett not seeming to have much impact as a QB Coach. His job was to tell Blake what Olson wanted him to do, not what Hackett may have thought was best for him. Also, the QB coach isn't on the sideline during the game I believe, so having someone out there who actually has a good relationship with him should do a lot.

I caught that too. Could have just been the way he phrased it, but it seems pretty easy to read between the lines there and figure Hackett may have not been thrilled with what he was coaching Blake.
