Hi, Jaguars fans!
Our Jacksonville Jaguars, will try again to win their first preseason game in 2018, as the team is in The North Star State to play the Minnesota Vikings, and another battle of regular season division champions from their 2017 NFL seasons. Jaguars and Vikings both are playing their first scheduled preseason game and meeting, and in Minneapolis, in 15 years., and both teams also lead off today's NFL preseason Saturday afternoon and evening schedule.
Jacksonville arrived in the Minneapolis/St.Paul, Twin Cities area in Minnesota this week, to participate with the Vikings and their support staff, in their preparation for tonight's preseason game, in the Vikings team and practice facilities in theTwin Cities Orthopedic Performance Center.
Both teams players continue to audition to earn themselves intot the 53-man regular season roster, from the current 90-man preseason roster, and the Jaguars and Vikings are also adjusting to the new NFL rules this year, including the helmet and punt return rules
Jaguars are also playing only their second-ever scheduled preseason game at Minnesota, and both the Jaguars and Vikings are playing the first NFL game since Super Bowl LII was played last February, in the $1.4 billion US Bank Stadium, built on the same site and footprint where the Metrodome existed in Downtown Minneapolis.
Jacksonville defeated Minnesota by the score of 16-14, in both teams first preseason opener and meeting, back on August 9, 2003. Jaguars linebacker Isiah Charlton scored the game-clincher, with his 97-yard fumble return for a Jaguars, and the games, only touchdown in the first-half. Seth Marler also kicked two field goals, and Jaguars QB Mark Brunell completed 10 of his 13 passes for 110 yards, and 0 INT's.
Jaguars @ Vikings 2003 preseason opener was also at the time Jack Del Rio's first game the Jaguars Head Coach, succeeding the Jaguars Inaugural Head Coach, and current Team President, Tom Coughlin.
Jacksonville also has a 1-5 all-time regular season series record over Minnesota, with the Jaguars only victory, a 33-3 win played at then-named Alltel Stadium, back on December 23, 2001.
Minnesota has yet to play a preseason game, while Jacksonville has yet to defeat the Vikings, in either during the preseason or regular season, at TIAA Bank Field, in the Jaguars 24 year existence in the NFL.
Brian Sexton, and former Jaguars running back Fred Taylor are announcing the live TV game commentary, simulcast in Jacksonville on WJAX CBS Channel 47, internationally on The NFL Network, and regionally throughout Florida on The Jaguars Television Network, seen live on HD.
