I'm not seeing how you think execution and lack of discipline is not a coaching issue...
It's embarrassing for rookies and FA's to come here and see Rah Rah Gus preach about opportunies. I honestly can't imagine what they're thinking after being coached by winning organizations in college, or super bowl teams. It's just sad. You know Jalen thinks he's a [BLEEP] idiot already.

Just kidding, that is my quote, but damn it is good.
I'll give it to you. I do get the impression this staff is over their heads, but then again I have no idea what is going on behind closed doors. Eventually talent has to win out, right? I mean these weren't world beaters we've been playing.
I really wish we were the subject of Hard Knocks this year so we could see just how inept this franchise is from a coaching standpoint.
Man I started a hate war on creating this thread. Sorry everyone.
Quote:I feel ya. Every play just looks like it takes so much effort. I think there is some hesitation on the QB. Confidence shaken? Maybe.
Maybe, but the routes are so lame if you watch them. They're vertical deep routes, nothing short to dink and dunk down the field and then go deep when the defense is breaking. It's like Olson is playing madden in real life. Greasy idiot can't expect Blake to throw bombs all game.

I think that's how you measure a successful thread actually.

Never said that. I don't believe it is a Gus lost the locker room issue. I think talent is there and players need to hold one another accountable.
Look, I don't believe we have a good coach anywhere on this team. I laugh every time I read someone wanting to fire Gus and make Marrone the coach. Hell, he can't get his O-line to play consistently! It will play out in the end.
The players loved Gus because there's no accountability with him running the ship.
Now they're beginning to realize that:
a) They look like jackasses and are a laughing stock when they lose
b) They're screwed when a real coach replaces Gus and they may get the boot.

I think the mix of routes is pretty lame. It always seems like the same 10 plays per half. Aside from that, I saw numerous routes break free deep. There was one during the last or next to the last play where Hurns was running free down the sideline.

Nah, just good discussion instead of the boring "fire everybody" mentality.

It's like working at a crappy company while making very good money. Over time, your skill set diminishes without you even knowing it, then when the company is restructured, you find yourself unemployed with no employable skill set.
Maybe a little dramatic, but you get the picture.

This, so much this. Perhaps why the last few years they turned it down.

I'm not sure you can't rule him out.
This was his recipe of coaches and players. Whichever you blame, it's both his hires and his selections.

I think he does share blame because he hired Gus. Of course Gus brought in his guys. I still believe Caldwell has done a good job turning the roster over, just needs the players to give some (smart) effort. I think it is still too early to put a large percentage of blame on the GM at this point. This is still a relatively young roster.
Bradley: I've gotten great support from Dave and Khan. I'm not worried about that right now. #Jaguars @wjxt4
I cant take this team.
Quote:Yeah, I think these guys want to play for Gus, and like the "culture" but it's only natural for any number of them to feel he's part of the problem.
I feel confident that the SD loss was a tipping point for several guys on the roster in terms of their views on a coaching change. That had to put doubt into a lot of minds in that locker room.
It must be fun for the guys to play for a coach who doesn't care about winning. All they gotta do is get better every day man. All they gotta do is keeping learning man.

Do you know how many coaches have said that right before they've been fired? Probably all of them.

Yep.
