Historically college coaches like Urban fail. Statistically speaking he has about an 85% chance of failure.
And he's shown zero ability to adapt. He's running it just like he did in College.. and no one is keeping tabs on him - he literally has no boss. Stupid move to give someone like Urban that much power. After 7 losses Khan will get an Email with the header, "Due to Health Concerns..."

I thought this trade was a little weird. It's possible they just don't like his size and don't think he has a chance to make the team so get something for him while you can. Not sure why you get another player in the trade. Presumably that guy isn't making the team either.
According to pro football reference, Scott only played 80 snaps last year. Not a lot of tape on the guy to make much assessment. Although if he couldn't get on the field much last year then this year he likely has no shot.
If I were a coach I think I'd want to see a guy on the field before giving up on him. From what I remember he was drafted where his value was so if he has legit 4th round value then there must be some talent. But either way seemed a long shot for the roster.

Herndon, Claybrooks, and even Barcoo seemed to be playing in front of him during this past season. The Jags organization this past season saw Scott basically everyday in practice and about 80 snaps in game situations. The new staff reviewed intensively the internal player reporting and tape, and determined he likely wasn't going to make the 53. In force ranking the CBs on the roster, there were likely 6-7 ahead of him (Griffin, Henderson, Campbell, Jones, Herndon, Claybrooks, and possibly Barcoo). It is a numbers game in the roster. Baalke and UM made a wise decision to attain some value for him now, while he still held some value for some other teams. This trade is really not hard to understand.
Coaches, new ones especially, typically want to keep the best players now or with upside at a position, and don't care as much if and when they are drafted. They had much better information on him than any of us board-niks.

Play on the field is what matters and he hasn't shown anything to make it seem he will be better than anyone else we can get in the 6th next year on top of he isnt what Urban and Cullen wants at corner.
The 4th and 6th rounds are absolutely different. You're talking about drafting guys who will be nearly 100 picks apart. Definitely a talent drop off.
Also, it's a 2023 6th round pick. We don't even get to use the pick for 2 years.

Yeah, such a drop off that it would suck to get a Tom Brady, Antonio Brown, Terrell Davis , or Jasonn Kelce. What round you are drafted in is irrelevant after being drafted. All that matters after being drafted is what you do on the football field. Aren't you the same guy that was crying about the Etienne pick?

Out of all the teams fans you would think this fan base would know more than any how good a player is is not based on draft position . Some thinks it's where a player is drafted lolol

Cool, now list all of the thousands of guys who amounted to nothing that went in the 6th round...
If the rounds are irrelevant, lets just trade all of our 1st, 2nd, 3rd and 4th round picks for a bunch of 5th, 6th and 7th round picks. Think of how many future late round picks we could get for just our 1st rounder.. The more picks the better right? I mean, since the rounds are irrelevant and all.

The 4th isn't unknown though. It's Josiah Scott who barely played even when Greg Mabin, Chris Claybrooks and others played instead.
What do you suggest a team should do when they realize their pick was a bust?

Calling anybody a bust after 1 season is just dumb to begin with, but I know that's how a lot of this fan base is. "Oh he isn't on our team anymore? Good, he was a bust anyways, great move!"...

Oh I seen the after, but it still doesn't change what you were trying to imply, otherwise why say it in the first place?
Drafting in higher rounds is ALWAYS better. Just because you can get lucky and hit on somebody in the 6th or 7th round, doesn't mean you wouldn't rather have a 3rd or 4th round pick over a 6th or 7th round pick.
Also, myself and many others knew that, that Fournette pick was a terrible pick. We said it from day 1. Him getting beat out shouldn't surprise anybody considering he was never that good to begin with.

But they only had Rosen for 1 year like we had Scott so he was unproven and Rosen was a top 10 pick
