(03-29-2022, 04:00 PM)Mikey Wrote: [ -> ]So is it better to darft a WR and cut/PS them and miss out on the RB you feel is the best fit among the undrafted? If we take 3 WR, there's a very good chance two end up waived before the season starts.

Do you honestly consider RB to be a position we are good at? I might agree with "could be good at", but that conditional depends a whole lot on both RBs' recovery and ability to avoid reinjury. I have a lot more confidence in an RB drafted late sticking on this roster than I do any of the WR 'jars on the shelf'.

I guess we agree, it's about using the picks wisely. I just see more wisdom addressing the uncertainty we presently have at RB than at flooding the market with players at a position we've already invested a ton in, whether you like the players there or not.

I don't think so. I think our WR unit as it stands now, is putrid. The only guys I think are a lock to make the roster are Kirk and Agnew.

I never said we are good at RB. I like James Robinson a lot when he is healthy and we spent a first round pick on Etienne, so like it or not, those guys are our starters. I just don't see spending a pick on a RB when that RB is gonna be relegated to 3rd string by probably the 6th game of the season, if not sooner when Robinson and Etienne are healthy. I believe there are very good late round WR's in this draft that could easily beat out below average WR's like Marvin Jones, Shenault, Zay Jones and Treadwell for a roster spot.

I’m with you on this. I wouldn’t be mad if they drafted 3 WRs. Kirk is our best WR and he’s just a guy. The media can hype this guy all they want but he’s average. Worst WR unit in the league.

The Bears would like a word with you on worst WR unit in the leage.

And Mooney is 3x better than any WR on the Falcons. I guess you're counting Pitts as a WR, which is fair.

Oh the Falcons are absolutely terrible too. I forgot about them so they may be the worst in the league (not counting Pitts).

You could also argue the Patriots too.

Darnell Mooney is far better than anything we have.

The Falcons are by far, the worst WR unit in the NFL. We are 2nd worst, IMO.

Mooney is really good but give me Marvin Jones/Kirk/Viska/Zay over Mooney/Pringle…. Couldn’t name you another Bears WR.

I'll take Mooney by himself over the menagerie of crap that we have at WR.
Our WR room looks like a dream team compared to this... yikes.

It is a bit disingenous to not count Pitts as he is basically a WR. I also think they add a WR, likely London, at 8. Pitts and London is a very solid start to a receiving corps. Wouldn't surprise me if they double dipped and got one of the nice slot candidates like Wan'Dale or Calvin Austin.

Not wrong, but it's literally Pitts and pretty much nobody else. I guess they still have Patterson as well, but he's no world beater.

They definitely should take a WR at 8 and not just stop there. They're gonna have to lean on rookies big time.

That gives me 2010 jaguar WR vibes. but on the bright side for Atlanta, they have Kyle Pitts who had 1k yards as a rookie and likely will just improve going forward, he is a monster.

I disagree completey if I'm the Falcons i'm drafting BPA regardless of position. They have no QB, that team is going to be as bad as we were last year and without any hope for a real QB on that team it might even be worse.

Right now, they should either
A. Draft BPA and build the team as best they can until theres a guy they can get at QB
B. Draft a QB if they believe in any of them
c. And it's lowercase on purpose, maybe trade for Baker and try to build around him. Tho i'm not baker fan, he's not the worst QB in the world.
(03-29-2022, 04:49 PM)Upper Wrote: [ -> ]Pierre Strong is my day 3 RB of choice, is he ranked higher than those guys? I admit I have no feel on RB ranks since I care so little about drafting RBs.

When Ben Fennel talks I listen. He was just heaping praise on Tyler Goodson as his favorite day 3 zone scheme runner. He is small but absolutely killed it athletically and would likely fit Pederson's scheme perfectly.

Strong would still make me happy, but I will change my first preference for who we draft to Goodson.

That said, it sounds like they want a big back if the RBs they've brought in on visits means anything.

I felt all along that was the most likely.  I think it is good to have complimentary backs.  ETN is ahead of Robinson in terms of recovery.  ETN's strength is not pounding up the middle.  I think it makes sense to have a big pounding back on the active roster to use when the team is in 3rd and 1 situations, etc.

I would guess Robinson is a late day 2 pick. We shouldn't be thinking about a RB before round 5 or 6 or hopefully even later.

Depends on how the draft falls and if they feel Robinson can make a full recovery.

1. WR1
2. LG
3. Edge/OLB
4. MLB
5. SS

Wildcard: DT/3-4 DE

I love how the draft matches up with our needs.  I thing we can go true BPA

After the free agency dust has settled a bit more, I'd list my needs as:

Edge/OLB
XWR
ILB2
OL capable of G/C versatility to compete or back-up at RG and C
RB Depth in case our combo isn't at full health in September

Welp - The Jags brass didn't like any XWR that fell to them enough to pull the trigger and didn't feel the need was worthy of a trade up (or couldn't find a partner to do so)

Otherwise - it appears they may have agreed with me on the other 4 needs as they were all addressed in the order I listed.

I hope they add a few receivers as UDFAs.
