I'm in the minority, but I think we still see a pick in this draft between the 3rd-5th rounds that plays G/C.

I don't disagree with that. That's where the value is at IOL.

I don't think you're in that much of a minority. If we don't get Linderman at #33, it would not be unreasonable at all to try and find someone in the next few rounds.

I am glad "Team-Mid-Round-IOL-Takers" is not the lonely place I'd imagined.

Obviously Baalke and coach see something in Cam that the stats don't illustrate.

ChrisJagBoyAbsolutely fine with this. Now we have Walker at RT, Cam at LT and Scherf at guard. Get a center/guard in the draft and the oline might finally be decent. Kinda wish we kept norwell now tbh lol.
if Little wins the RT position then Taylor backs up the RT and RG positions.

Rumors are floating that Taylor is being shopped.
Could he be packaged with picks to move up in the draft? Just spit-balling here...

I was an advocate for letting Cam walk this off season. I don't know what they see in him but he played his best football last year. Maybe the idea is if they draft a LT and he bust they have an insurance policy with Cam.

You don't give someone a contract worth $54 M to be an insurance policy. They obviously think Cam is worth being a top 5 paid LT.
It's idiotic, but that's how the Jags roll.

$18 million /year is not a top 5 tackle contract. On the surface it is tied for 8-10 average contract, but the next 9 guys make at least $15 million.
So, that means the top 25% of all tackles (LT and RT) make about what Cam signed for. By next year, his contract will be overtaken by a few more guys.
I would agree that right now he is probably not in the 25% of all tackles, but it is reasonable to think he could reach that level.
And all that is without even looking at guarantees or how it is structured.

I think you're in the vast majority. If we don't get a surprise faller at 33 then I'd be shocked if we don't take a mid round IOL.

What's the going rate for turnstiles and flag magnets?

If we kept Norwell, we wouldn't have Scherff.
Why? If you are talking about position, Scherff plays right guard while Norwell played left guard. If it's money, Norwell's cap hit with his new team is approximately $5.6 million. It might have meant not signing someone else, but they could have made the room for him if they wanted.

He's a guy capable of dominating a game, but he needs help.
Pick up the 4th year option and get him some help.

Done.
Frees up cap space too
I bet the Vegas odds on us drafting Ickey just went down. Looks like it's gonna be an edge rusher or something out of left field.
I didn't get why so many people thought we were taking Ickey or Neal at #1. Baalke was not going to give up after one year on Walker Little who was an early second round pick of his and looked good in a couple of games to end the season. When they franchise tagged Cam, it was clear that they weren't going offensive tackle at #1. You don't pay someone $16 million to be insurance to a #1 overall pick and you don't draft someone at #1 overall to be your long-term answer at guard. To me, this just confirms what we already knew.

Definitely not in the minority on this. I'm really hoping we pick up some interior OL help in the middle rounds. A "jar on the shelf" type like an Uche Nwaneri or Ben Bartch from a bigger school would be ideal to me.

It's stunning to me that they haven't picked that up yet. Especially given how cheap the 5th year option is compared to the market for pass rushers. He's done everything right since he's gotten here and is a good leader with high character. .... Reward that; pick up the option and immediately start working on an extension.
