First 2 weeks are important - of course. Winnable game @ WAS and division opponent Colts at home where we have had success against them. I really think we could be 2-0 to start to season and I think that is really all Ill look at and focus on until week 3.
Week 1 against Wentz I would agree with. However, I dint think the Clots are going to be an easy out this year with Ryan. He's going to be more like Rivers than Wentz in that system. I think it really hinges on our pass rush. If it looks like it did in the small sample size of preseason, then we can give Ryan some fits, since he's pretty much a statue back there at this point in his career. If not, then I think its possible we get picked apart.

Yes, it's possible. Im just factoring in our recent success against Indy at home, first home game in front of our fans for the szn, Leonard being out. I agree with your post and I dont think we are some sort of considerable favorite but I do see it as a very realistic, winnable game for us. Pass rush will be crucial absolutely.
Going to drink the Kool-aid and expect the best possible outcome. (Bold prediction)
Jags v Commanders: W (Close game)
Jags v Clots: W (Close game, Matt Ryan puts up a fight)
Jags v Chargers: L (We see Lawrence put up a competitve shootout with Herbert, this is the game he proves himself even in a loss)
Jags v Eagles: W (Doug gets redemption)
Jags v Texans: W (Trevors first blowout win, dominates the puny tin horns)
Jags v Clots: L (They take us in indy, but close game)
Jags v Giants: W (Another double digit W)
Jags v Broncos: L (First time going to London for quite a few guys, Russel Wilson proves too much)
Jags v Raiders: L (No bye after London game, get caught slackin by a solid Raider team)
Jags v Cheifs: W!! (Mahomes and the Cheifs offense slows down without Hill, just enough for Lawrence to get his first signature W)
Jags v Bye Week: L (The streak continues)
Jags v Ravens: L (Good team, good qb, great coach.. can't winnem all)
Jags v Det: W (Travon Walker gets more sacks/TFL than Hutchinson)
Jags v Titans: L (Close game, but at their house.)
Jags v Dallas: L (The typical "Because Jaguars" loss)
Jags v Jets: W (Lawrence shows the Jets how big they messed up by winning a few yrs ago)
Jags v Houston: W (That team sucks)
Jags v Titans: W (We shut down Henry, Willis is probably playing in relief of Tannehill struggling and we take it)
10-7, Teal kool-aid sippin bold prediction, let's get it.
Jags @ Commanders: W (Close game) NJC - agree, especially if we are able to disrupt Wentz. (W)
Jags v Clots: W (Close game, Matt Ryan puts up a fight) NJC - depends on the pass rush. If we get to Ryan we should win. If not, we lose a close one. (L)
Jags @ Chargers: L (We see Lawrence put up a competitve shootout with Herbert, this is the game he proves himself even in a loss) NJC - in my book, the Chargers are the SB favorite. No W this year. (L)
Jags @ Eagles: W (Doug gets redemption) NJC - No. Tho Hurts is not the answer for Philly, still a better roster than us. (L)
Jags v Texans: W (Trevors first blowout win, dominates the puny tin horns) - NJC - we win a close, ugly game (W)
Jags @ Clots: L (They take us in indy, but close game) NJC - we get blown out (L)
Jags v Giants: W (Another double digit W) NJC - win by 2 scores (W)
Jags v Broncos (London): L (First time going to London for quite a few guys, Russel Wilson proves too much) NJC - agree (L)
Jags v Raiders: L (No bye after London game, get caught slackin by a solid Raider team) NJC - I pick the Raiders 2nd in the AFC West. too good on both sides of the ball (L)
Jags @ Cheifs: W!! (Mahomes and the Cheifs offense slows down without Hill, just enough for Lawrence to get his first signature W. NJC - disagree. I think the Chiefs fall back this year, to 8-9, but we still lose. Too tough a division (L)
Jags v Bye Week: L (The streak continues) NJC - LOL
Jags v Ravens: L (Good team, good qb, great coach.. can't winnem all) NJC - agree. double digit loss (L)
Jags @ Det: W (Travon Walker gets more sacks/TFL than Hutchinson) NJC - i think this is close. I see us and Detroit as having about the same record before this game (3-8). (W)
Jags @ Titans: L (Close game, but at their house.) NJC - we get rolled by Henry. (L)
Jags v Dallas: L (The typical "Because Jaguars" loss) NJC - Dallas is not a good team this year. They are decimated on the OL and are going to struggle. (W)
Jags @ Jets: W (Lawrence shows the Jets how big they messed up by winning a few yrs ago) NJC - a loss, but its close (L)
Jags @ Houston: W (That team sucks) NJC - we sweep the Texans for the 1st time since maybe 2017? (W)
Jags v Titans: W (We shut down Henry, Willis is probably playing in relief of Tannehill struggling and we take it) NJC - Titans have tanked the season at this point, we finally win in Music City (W)
10-7, Teal kool-aid sippin bold prediction, let's get it. NJC - 7-10, with our arrow pointing up.
If we stay healthy, 10. If not 5.

....so you think they are a one-win team too?
I don't recall anyone here saying "Playoffs or bust", or denying that we aren't still an incomplete team. We're just nowhere near the doom and gloom that Snowy dropped, unless something dire happens in these first few weeks.
I said 6 wins being optimistic. This team has been so bad for so long it is hard to be positive with many fans.
I'd say we win between 5 and 7 games this year.
Less than 5? Baalke should be fired. Pederson should get another year regardless, but it would be cause for some concern.
Between 5 and 7: Cause for optimism. Progress! Baalke should probably still be on the chopping block if it's 5.
More than 7: True Hope. This would be major progress.

Well done. And while we're at it, let's cut Trevor, Etienne, Lloyd, Walker and Allen if we fall short of 5. Just clean house, cause we are so used to success around here, gotta maintain that high standard. Get em all out, they aren't worthy.
everyone always says the Texans suck. if they suck so bad how come they have beaten our Jags 8 stright games in a row.

The Texans might suck. But no one out sucks the jags, not even the girls on phillips hwy around 1 am.
I'm not sure how many games the Jags will win this year. Though maybe they will see significant improvement. I've been watching The Herd and lately Colin and others on the show have been optimistic about the Jags. Geoff Schwartz was up there one day, and he was talking positively about the Jags indicating he thinks they might surprise people in a good way this season.
Also, the other day Colin was making his predictions and even though he had the Jags listed as third in the division, he said they could be "sneaky" and win 9 games. He was being serious about that. Colin has also said multiple times recently that he believes that Trevor will prove this year that he is the best QB from his draft class. I don't always agree with/like what Colin says and he has poked at Jacksonville before. But he does genuinely seem to think that the Jags may improve considerably this year and maybe they will.

Considering that Cowhead is always market driven in what he discusses, I actually think he believes this about us. Otherwise, there's no other reason for us to be on his radar, except as a punching bag.

Yeah, in spite of him poking at the Jags in the past, I do believe he is being sincere/serious about his latest positive comments about the Jags. Geoff came across as sincere as well, and he seems to really like Trevor. Colin has stated multiples times recently he thinks that Trevor will end up proving himself and he also seems to believe in Doug Pederson. He was talking about the QB's from last year's draft class the other day and he feels the best about Trevor. He stated that Justin Fields is the one he's the most worried about largely due to the current structure of the Bears.
Realistically....6-8 wins.
Teal Koolaid....10 wins or more
Defense will be improved this year. Offense may take 4 games or so to start syncing. However, having a better defense is going to make a huge difference. Last year, a few of the games could have went the other way if the defense would play as I'm expecting it to do this season.

Consider just how very miserable this team was last year, and the quality FA signings that team brought in, and they still managed three wins. For us to be even worse is depending on something catastrophic to occur very early in this season, and let's not go down that road unless we have to.
That and his dad's first hand insight.
Honestly wolfie, we could win the SB and you'd still have so much PTSD from the bad years you wouldn't believe it. Which isn't unfair, many of us will have that "waiting for the other shoe to drop #bcjaguars" feeling for a long time after we eventually become good again.
There is no real reason to be overly optimistic. We should be better than last year, but not that much better and we were the worst team in the league.

Disagree. This is the only time to be overly optimistic. No games have been played so we aren't sure what the team looks like. Gotta be optimistic now before it's too late!

Agree. Hopium is a heck of a drug.
I'm very excited for Sunday, all I really want to see is our QB show us why he was so highly rated. Win or loss, I just want to see a competitive game.

I disagree. We spent an NFL record on free agents this off-season, had the #1 pick in each round of the draft, extra draft picks and first option on every player that came across the waiver wire. The results are 10 new starters who weren't even on the team last year, 11 if you count ETN and 12 new starters if you count the promotion of Cisco. We also had a rookie quarterback last year who is likely to improve this year. We also hopefully have significantly better coaching. Given the resources listed above, it will be a major failure for this front office if the team isn't much, much better.
Im expecting us to lose by double digits, i expect Lawrence to contribute to at least 2 turnovers and continue playing like a poverty qb at least for the first few weeks. Hes not going to miraculously go from being awful to good overnight. If lawrence is to take that step and become a top tier qb id expect it to be closer to week 5 or 6.. onces hes adjusted to the new scheme and wrs.
But hey, im just hating as im sure someone will point out.. and when it happens exactly as iv said this post will be ignored
