So here's my take on the game. Would love to hear opinions. Bad 2 throws by Lawrence: obviously the INT and the Agnew overthrow, however my bigger problem was the coaches constantly putting the offense in a passing set and position. The obvious play was to lean on the run, the ball was like a freaking slippery noodle, neither team could hold on to it on passes. I don't understand the constant passing sets and empty backfields on first and second down when we have two insanely talented backs. I also don't understand not challenging the spot, as ETN made that first down before the botched snap QB sneak. You saw the eagles change their gameplay and go to all runs, and it worked why we chose to act like there was no rain and that it wasn't insanely terrible conditions is beyond me. Also, if I'm a coach and I know it's going to be raining buckets the whole game (which was the forecast since last week), I would be making them practice ball control with a wet ball all week. Not sure if they did or not, but sure didn't seem like it. The defense kept us in this game, but the offense was anemic, I put some of that on the players, but way more on a coaching staff unwilling to modify the game plan. I mean Robinson have 8 carries in a tsunami is just absurd.

Did he get injured or something?  His last run came with 5 minutes left in the 3rd quarter.  He then never ran again.

Offense didn't control the flow of the game like we've seen the last 2 weeks. Defense isn't going to hold the Eagles all game long.. we definitely need to use Etienne and Robinson more effectively. We abandoned the run and got anemic in the 2nd quarter. I feel like we panicked when up 14-7. Lawrence didn't deal well with adversity. Needs to take care of the ball. Just dropping it without contact is inexcusable. Also INT's in the redzone taking points off the board is awful. Disappointed with Jawaan Taylor also.

Not that I saw or heard... But it was crazy. He had a good blitz pickup and then never saw him again.

Agreed, both plays bad, but we've seen that from Trevor before and with the way the game was going I feel better play calls would have made a difference.

Agreed. This game felt like the opener all over again with the missed opportunities in the passing game and the imbalance in the play calling.

This is something Doug and Trevor are going to have to work on together as the season progresses. What baffles me is not just the lack of running the football but also a lack of the TE position being utilized in the passing game as well as the lack of screen attempts.

Going into this game Arnold had one target and Engram had fifteen. Today, the group collectively had three. Engram, Arnold and Manhertz. Arnold having the best play of that group today.

It's just a little baffling. Something I didn't expect to see today with Zay Jones being out and just Pederson's offense historically favoring the TE group.

The eight touches for Robinson and Etienne in today's weather conditions seemed criminal though. He broke his own philosophy today.

You were up 14 - 0. Had a shot at 21 - 0. He said you throw to score and you run to win after that season opener. Well, you had the damn lead. Run it. Run it until they stop it.

The same exact plan the Eagles used today is what we should have done. They ran it and then they smoked you with screen plays.

Although a vivid memory by all observers, it's wrong to say that Pederson didn't use the run game after the first quarter. He did. It worked until the passing game broke down.

You can see that the game plan hardly changed at all until Q4 when the Jags had their backs up against the wall and needed to go for broke in order to catch up. Instead, the short passing game went through a very dry patch starting on the fourth drive which was in the second quarter. Starting with that drive, everything stalled off five straight short incompletions. There was a revival on the seventh drive in the third quarter when the short passes hit again until the unwise INT on a short pass. After that INT the deep passes started but the short passes kept missing and stalling drives.

Through it all, the running game kept going and kept being used. Until the last four series of downs which all started with passes, the run had been used to start 11 series and the pass used to start only 5.

Thanks for refreshing our memories a bit.  Drives 4 and 6 needed more runs.  Drive 7 was a good looking drive too.  That interception was probably the game loser right there.
