Dempsey started talking over him about something else.
The fumble and dropped pass against Colts?
They also said something about a 4th round pick and D.Johnson..would it be worth it. Johnson had 1 carry for 8 yd
I don't think it was a punishment. Strange was also limited, I think it was strategy to limit the snaps taken by the rooks. You don't want a costly mistake to bite you in the butt in a game where every drive likely matters.
I figure they'll both get their reps this weekend, heck if anything the light workload should mean they are fresher for an (on paper) easier opponent.

Then it seemingly appears we would have been better served investing that 61st overall pick and 88th overall pick elsewhere. They left Harrison completely on his own against one of the top three - five premier pass rushers in the league on Sunday and the results speak for themselves.
The coaching staff and personnel management needs to be called out. Even if it's a guy that helped build a Superbowl caliber roster in San Francisco and a coach that won a Superbowl in Philadelphia. They're still human.
After two weeks of embarrassing efforts made on offense with what was sold as an embarrassment of riches personnel wise on said offense (minus the obvious pile of elephant [BLEEP] in the room known as the offensive line), we should expect better as a fanbase.
I feel bad for the fans. You guys shelled out big bucks, had your faces melted off in this heat wave, were asked to pay for overpriced water, for what? To watch this offense score 9 points and go 0/7 in the redzone? Hell nah, man. Hell nah. They better get this [BLEEP] moving and moving fast!

It's tough to watch positions of great need eschewed on draft day - only to see a RB and TE taken early riding pine while the aforementioned positions get murdered by an opponent.
Yes, I think they limited snaps for both players in an attempt to mitigate rookie errors (they both displayed them week one)
A rookie interior OL may have also struggled out there Sunday, but it stings to see those positions ignored over a RB that we apparently can't trust yet. It's the one skill position that is supposed to be able to contribute as a rookie more than any other.
Secondarily - when you take a TE early and hype up his ability to in line block for months - he should be in to protect your QB who hit the turf WAY too many times on Sunday.
I'm still all in on this staff and this season - but they need to figure a few things out over the coming weeks or they'll be stuck behind the 8-ball while returning from a London trip tired and forlorn.

Who do you bench for him, Kirk? The plan was to use the 3rd WR instead of the 2nd TE. That makes sense since Kirk balled out, there just aren't enough positions on the field and that sometimes happens. Sure, they could've adjusted, but then the only guy who had a decent day would've been off the field. Maybe having Strange work on Jones would've helped the other guys, but you definitely give up Kirk if you do.

Plenty of room for compromise.
Kirk played 81% of the snaps. (about double what he played the week prior)
They could have conceded 25% of those snaps to a better protection package on downs requiring distance and still have had an effective contribution from Kirk.
Last time I checked we were supposed to have a wealth of viable receiving targets on this team.
We shouldn't need to depend on 14 targets to one receiver in ANY game against ANY opponent.
If that was the "plan" then the "plan" was myopic as [BLEEP]

Well if Dilfer said it, it's gotta be good!
Other great things said on ESPN:
- "The 49ers are kicking themselves in the foot"
- "A.A.Ron pulled a rabbit out of his head"
- literally anything uttered by screamin' A. Smith

I mean, what better way to prove one's own point?
Why there is absolutely no love for D’Ernest escapes me. He is a quality back. Got lost behind Chubb and Hunt but still balled out when given the chance.

I was stoked when we signed him and expect good contribution from him.
Offers really good depth if ETN gets banged up and is contributing already in pass pro and ST + 2 first down in the last game.
Would not be surprised if he gets "spell-back" duty until they trust Tank to do more.
One interesting thing about the Week 3 PFF's. Tank and D’Ernest both have good grades on pass blocking. Travis is not good but he gets a pass for now

D'Ernest can kick rocks.
Tank should be the 2nd featured back. Dude is money.
Dear Etienne,
Please feel free to bounce the play outside if the hole is small/nonexistent. Those O linemen have enough to be inadequate at without you leaving cleat marks on their backsides. Youve demonstrated in the recent past that you have the speed to do this. Quit trying to be Larry Csonka / Earl Campbell / John Riggins / Eddie George on every play, for pete's sake.
Sincerely,
