Need to see him not stink it up in the post season. 1 - 3 record. 4 TDs Vs 7 Turnovers.

Lamar is good. I don't think he's a superstar. He has far too many games where he racks up rushing yards without TDs and throws for under 200 yards. His running ability warps the game, but if you play him the Jags did (play contain and drop into coverage) he struggles to find his open guys. That game was 10-7 going into the 4th, and that entire game goes different if Lawrence doesn't inexplicably drop the ball in the red zone or we get points before the half.
The media wants to make Lamar a one man offense and he just isn't that.
I see people saying sign him now and pointing at Lamar contracts.
How about the flip side : Daniel Jones and Russell Wilson got paid. It always is not good.
I have 0 doubt Trev is gonna get a mega deal.
Don't have any need or reason to get it down this off season though.
Let's get 41 locked up. Take care of shoring up the OL (probably means keeping Cam).
No rush to get a deal done for Trevor. But it's not because of doubt it's just using the rookie deal to our advantage.

Herbert and Hurts both made less than Trevor this season after they got extensions.

Not sure what that means... I'm just saying we don't need to rush to give Lawrence a contract until we need to give him the contract.
I'm guessing you mean they could do some contract gymnastics? But if I put my GM cap on 41 is priority, then figuring out what to do with Rid, then OL then Trev.

Extending Lawrence doesn't hurt the team in the short term. It can actually help them by giving them some flexibility to sign more Oline help.
I think the narrative around giving Lawrence an extension is that it would cripple the cap and that's just not the case next year. Sign Allen to his rightful contract. Sign Lawrence to his contract.
This locks up 2 critical positions on the Jags but also doesn't hurt them financially in the short term to continue adding pieces.
we HAVE to lock him up now; the down year only helps by keeping the overall pricetag lower imho. He's the best QB this franchise has ever had and the reason we get attention nationally. It would be gross mismanagement to have him walk away in free agency or force a trade.
In order for Jacksonville to be taken seriously as an NFL city and professional football team, we need a QB with star power; there is no better qb option available, nor will there be in the next few years based on the overall roster talent and having to essentially tank again for a new QB.
lets not overthink this and just give Trevor & Josh Allen the bag. speaking of the latter; wish we had locked up JA41 last year in hindsight; lets not make the same mistake with Trevor.

I think Lamar is a Superstar. He's an MVP talent. Especially in the regular season.
I just think he super stink's in crunch time and he has yet to show any of those superstar qualities in a play-off game.
He'll get a chance here soon with the top seed secured.

One of those losses in the playoffs were because the Ravens Defense couldn't stop Henry. Dude had 200 rushing yards in that playoff game. Lamar had over 500 total yards in that game.
I'm curious who the 8 people are that voted bust. I can think of like 3-4 off the top of my head, but I'm curious if there are some closet lawrence haters lol.
PS: I did not vote that.

I'm not concerned that much about Lawrence's numbers this year. The turnovers have a number of factors. Poor OL play, QB mistakes, WR on the wrong route, QB pressure causing an off-shore, etc. He would look a lot better when the OL is much better.
Yes. He deserves a contract to stay here in Jacksonville when the time comes.

Lock him up, I am firmly in agreeance. A mega deal, or a market resetting one? Not so much tho, I think 35-40 aav would be fitting for a guy like Trevor. It would shock me if he signed a deal over 45/year aav. I think Trevor can be good, elite, mmm, hard to say, but he has shown to do well when everything around him is going good. If I were GM if he was asking for 45+ a year I would have a hard time saying yes to that.

That said, over the past 3 years my $91 ticket is now priced at $150 heading into next year so I'm not so certain how much I'm willing to spend if these increases continue as my gameday setup at home (during away games) includes the following:
Temp: 70 degrees
Parking: free parking in the driveway
Beer: $12 for a 6-pack
Food: grilled food made to order
Fans: no opposing fans annoying me
Duration: Arrive at 12:55pm and am home at 4:00pm
If you think about it 150 is still cheep....some team's that ticket is 250+

Unless you piss him off and he wants to leave it's a double edge sword
