To be fair I didn't want him to be here for preseason, should've canned his [BLEEP] at the end of last season.

Quote:I was pretty serious.

It's something as fans we don't think about...

but I heard Coach Cowher say it when speaking about getting a job offer.

He would never wish for someone to lose their job. People have to move their families. Kids change schools. Its tough. Not just Gus, but a lot of assistants too. I mean... some of them may not even work in the NFL again.

Who they hell are we, joe-schmo fan, to WANT someone to lose their job.

Shouldn't you wish for them to do it better?

Meh... whatever, Karma's a [BAD WORD REMOVED].

That's not a huge concern. Gus, if fired, will be paid this year and next whether or not he gets a job, and will probably be a hot DC prospect. All of the assistants would be kept this year if the head coach is fired between now and the end of the season, unless one was considered a negative influence on the team. Most if not all would find jobs elsewhere; those who can't shouldn't be coaching the Jags to begin with.

Unless you are arguing that a coach should never be fired, and teams must be perennially stuck with the Rich Kotites of the world?

So you are arguing that the Jets should have kept Rich Kotite until he died or retired?

Quote:What did they do against Tampa?
it was offset because Tampa did same thing.

The Pats should have kept Rod Rust in the 90s and he should still be coaching that team today. Such a nice guy. Firing people is mean.

He doesnt
We cant nor should we fire him now. However if this season is truly a dumpster fire than Im fine with letting him go at the end of the season. I will be paying a bit more attention to possible HC prospects as well, just incase.

Quote:Why do fans (most of which would be devastated by losing their jobs) wish unemployment upon so many people (coaches, GMs, players) that have lives and families to worry about?

Because most people are selfish.

Gus being fired would give the weak minded a temporary relief and make them feel better about themselves.

Unfortunately the feeling will wear off and they'll be right back to wishing bad things on good people.

<p style="color:rgb(40,40,40);font-family:helvetica, arial, sans-serif;">1) They get paid extremely well.. Which most who would be devastated by losing there jobs wouldn't be able to afford to stay afloat while Gus would still be able to afford a life of luxury.

<p style="color:rgb(40,40,40);font-family:helvetica, arial, sans-serif;">2) It comes with the job? In which sport do you know of where if the team isn't doing well the coach isn't the first one to go lol? He knows that going into this job.

<p style="color:rgb(40,40,40);font-family:helvetica, arial, sans-serif;">3)If you were doing so poorly at your job you'd get fired as well.

<p style="color:rgb(40,40,40);font-family:helvetica, arial, sans-serif;">

<p style="color:rgb(40,40,40);font-family:helvetica, arial, sans-serif;">What an idiotic statement to say.

<p style="color:rgb(40,40,40);font-family:helvetica, arial, sans-serif;">

<p style="color:rgb(40,40,40);font-family:helvetica, arial, sans-serif;">Anyway this being said I don't believe Gus should get fired.. It is a pre season game people are just over reacting. We will see at the end of the year if he deserves to get fired.
The topic was more out of anger and disappointment.

This was my thought. If I was performing poorly at my job, I wouldn't be kept on because I have a family... or because I'm a nice guy (that part is open to interpretation).
I think most would expect the OC or DC (or both in a co-role) to take over if Bradley is let go mid season.

I would also expect strong consideration to either as the heir to the throne depending on how they finish.

75% of this board will disappear if we beat GB.

Jags win and trolls go away? Double win.

I wouldn't worry about that. Green Bay is gonna whoop us.

Firing a nice guy is not mean if he was doing a bad job. A lot of nice guys suck at their jobs.

My topic that is hiding in this one was started out of anger and disappointment about fans who want Gus Bradley to get fired before the regular season starts.
My head hurts more this month and I have no idea why...

Quote:Exactly Kane. When Buffalo traded a QB to Dallas midseason a couple years ago he wanted to stay in Buffalo because they had three young kids and were expecting a fourth. That is bad timing for the player to change teams. I would never wish for someone to be in that situation whether he was fired or transferred to another facility.
If I was getting paid millions and millions of dollars, you can trade me and my family to wherever you want.

I don't expect us to win, but I am anticipating a close game.
Remember during last years preseason when ARob and Hurns were dropping passes.... I can't believe that didn't translate to the regular season! Preseason success is so crucial to regular season success!

You don't know what it is like to be forced to transplant a family of five with a sixth member coming soon.

OTOH our best play by a wide receiver last night was to Tony Washington, who did nothing in the regular season.
