Sign Risner.

I don’t want a 5th or 6th round rookie as a backup. The Jags need some vets as depth in case someone gets hurt.

I have some hope for Braswell still.

He looked decent in Preseason but I dont think hes better than Prince.  Hopefully they both look good

This is what I'm thinking.

We just drafted an Olineman...upgraded our starting center, and from what the fans have said...Cooper Hodges has potential.

I won't mind bringing in another big body, but some are acting like the organization hasn't done anything for the OLine.

Cooper Hodges played like 8 snaps against UDFAs last year before he got hurt. I know he has a cool nickname and he's local, but he's the longest of longshots to make the team this year.

And with each passing pick, the choices get slim and slimmer with talent.

Got Gabe Davis and BTJ to run deep routes all for Trevor to get planted less than 2 seconds after the ball gets snapped.

And drafting a lineman with that 5th rounder was gonna make all the difference?

Nope, but with them passing up multiple times on better O-line prospects - especially in the 2nd round - we're now sitting here with players who are most likely not going to make a significant impact for our greatest asset on this team.

I like the additions we have made in FA with the Mitch Morse pickup, but we need strong competition for the starting five and at the very least significant depth behind them barring injuries/etc.
Great pick by the Dolphins. Kamara in the 5th is a steal
2nd wave of FA should see the Jags sign Risner and Dupree. They haven’t addressed either of those positions in the draft.
Yeah, I think we need to trade for some o-line talent, unfortunately.
Can't believe Johnny Wilson is still available. Buffalo should snatch him at 163.

1 of those tackles is a piss test away from a year off. Both of them are free agents in 11 months.

Which makes it even more urgent.

Risner was a FA last year when we needed a G and we didnt sign him.  Risner went to Min. and beat out the guy we just signed to a big contract.  Risner doesnt fit the type of guard the staff wants or we would of signed him last year.

^This right here.

Not to mention injuries and whatnot. We need to invest in competent players along the O-line and often because the players need time to synergize and work as a cohesive unit.
As others have said, we’ve really thrown a tonne of resources into the OLine as it is.

Robinson - second round pick, big second contract
Cleveland - FA
Morse - FA
Scheriff - FA
Harrison - First Round
Little - Second Round
Fortner - Third Round
Foster - Fourth round

Plus we have Hodges, Shatley and Hance.

That’s so much

That's eleven players 12 if they go Oline at 167. Somebody gonna get cut. Several somebodys.
Looking like a DL again on the next pick?
Javon Solomon, Malik Washington, or Mahogany

He didn't beat him out, Cleveland was hurt with a broken foot. They traded him because A. he was hurt, and B. he wasn't going to resign with them.

Which leads to the conclusion, that I alluded to earlier, that the staff is the problem.

Just because we drafted Fortner with a 3rd doesn't mean he is a good player - just like the corollary exists as well.

However, we know what kind of player Fortner is and if you will hang your hat on remaining complacent with him, Robinson teetering along Goodell's gavel while becoming a F/A, and others aging along that front - then Trevor and our team will not succeed in any way possible.

It's an offensive league and we need a steady stream of strong competition to ensure our franchise QB can succeed and remain healthy.
If they go defense. I hope it's Gabe Hall.

If they go offense. I hope it's Christian Mahogany.

Robinson - pending free agent, on the PED list, should've not been resigned
Morse - 31 and 6 concussions, I like the signing but he's a bridge at best
Scherff - 32 and the worst run blocking starting guard in the NFL, if they cut him in camp it's ok with me.
Little - can't seem to find his way past PEDSRob and pending free agency
Fortner - bust
Hodges - late 7th coming off injury, largely unknown
Shatley - was never more than average and he's 30
Hance - The definition of Just. A. Guy.

We've got Harrison, Cleveland (trade and resigned), and Foster in prep for the future.
