Here is his market value with WR to similar deals and Hurns is right there or better than all of the guys listed and a year later where contracts go up every year

Allen Hurns earned it.  He has produced since the first day he got here.  His first 2 catches were TDs!  I actually didn't know he was 6'3" until this offseason.  I thought he was closer to 6'1".  His size and strength are deceptive and he has great hands.  I think Hurns can be an iconic player on some very successful Jaguar teams.  Maybe Super Bowl teams.  All great teams need players like Allen Hurns.  A-Rob is also a great WR and it may be hard to isolate the impact of each player, but Hurns' body of work speaks for itself and has been a huge positive for this team.

Quote:20 mil ties him for 12th in the league at WR right now. That's a lot.

4 years from now that contract will look like a bargain.

Well he is a top 15 - 20 wideout. Looks like market value to me.
Well deserved.
We'd have paid Cobb more than that last year. I'm more than happy with this deal. Get these young guys locked down. Dave is doing a great job.

Give it 2 years and he will probably be somewhere around 20-25

He's not 6'3"

He's 6'1"
Good for ole "burns" Hurns.  Good player and good job paying the man.

I knew we would lock him up.
A-Rob just wet his pants after seeing those numbers. We've got ourselves one outstanding young pair of receivers to go with that franchise QB, huh?
Allen Hurns is pretty much  my favorite Jaguar. He has started at the bottom and made it to the top. He is a great player and seems to be a great dude. I am so happy for this guy. I wish him nothing but the best.

He will always have a fan in me.

The 2016 offseason seems to be monumental with all the moves Caldwell has made.
Hurns did well to sign for only four years as opposed to five or more. Next year I'm envisioning at least a few of their draft picks signing five-year deals. This means Hurns will be looking for a new contract after the 2020 season while some of his peers will be waiting until the 2023 offseason to hit pay dirt.

Well deserved AH. Congratulations.

This is the beginning of the third phase of our foundation.

After the Purge, drafting and  FA comes the long term signings of the fruits of your hard work.

Going back thru this thread and looking at the JAGS that will be re-signed in the next three years shows

that we finally have a foundation to sustain. There will be players that will hit FA because Caldwell did

not believe the demand prudent. This happens all the time, the fact that we have a core of young players coming up

to reload is something we have not had here in JAX.

HeadSlap

Quote:When the hell was the last time this team paid a wideout that we had this kind of money? Extremely proud of Hurns and his story. Very proud of this scouting department. This team is on the rise...

Go Jags
When was the last time we had a wideout that deserved to be paid this kind of money?  Jimmy Smith in early to mid 2000's?

Egads!  If I hear another Ketchmanite repeat his mantra of receivers being a dime a dozen in light of the decade we've gone without having anyone of worth at the position...I'll scream.
Quote:Absolutely well deserved. Congrats to Allen Hurns! Won't be long before we start hearing about other contract extensions with the Jags.
Signing these guys will be happy announcements for Jaguars fans, because for once we'll have players worth keeping and signing.  It means down the road, we'll have talented, veteran leadership.

I'm glad Hurns got his deal.

Everything I've read about him...everything I've seen about him...indicates he is well deserving of such a deal.

All those guys and more we have churned through here in the desperate and feeble attempts to get a 3rd WR, then a 3rd WR and a replacement for Keenan, then a 3rd WR, a replacement for Keenan, and then a replacement for Jimmy Smith, only to see our team descend into pathetic decrepit chaos, leaves me shaking my head in dismay.

In my mind, a team of William Shakespeares working in 8 hour shifts, 24 hours a day could not adequately express just how far we have come at the position.

My fellow Jaguars fans-especially the newer ones-please appreciate what you are seeing now.  While we are desperate to win, that desperation is borne of the failures listed above...at damn near EVERY position.

This is why we have legit hope now.

You know it's on, it's on when there's no trace of 'negatron' four pages deep!

In other news, my guess of ARob's deal: 4 years 62mil 30 guaranteed?
Just want to chime in and add to the positivity.

Remember, Hurns was elected a top 100 player by his peers.

Every time I see him catch a pass, my first thought is, good old Hurns. Of course. Mr. Reliable.

Salary cap goes up every year. We have to use it up by rule.

This is a happy occasion. We finally have some guys worth re-signing.
