She kind of has a point though. Everyone is operating under the assumption that Jack is definitely going to need surgery and like he's going to need it next week. Simply put, we don't know but as talented as he is when healthy, and it seems to me that he is relatively healthy in the short term/for the time being, at what point is it reasonable to take a swing at a top 5 talent in his situation?

For my part, I don't claim to know. I love this kid though (Jack) and hope with everything that I have that he goes on to have a long and successful career. I'll be rooting for him except in two very specific instances: his team is playing the Jaguars and/or he ends up a tack.

THIS!
Quote:He seems like he could be a Belichick/Patriots guy but as we know they didn't have a first rounder.

At the very least,  Reggie Ragland has two qualities the Patriots especially like:

  1.  Size for a LB.

  2.  Versatility.

I don't expect Ragland to last to the latter part of Round 2 but even more surprising things have already happened in this draft.
I wonder if Bullard is on the table at all

Forgot about him. I'm sure he is. Dave loves his Florida schools.

LOL He knows the best pass rusher available is not a Gator. I see Jon Bullard more as a run stuffer.
@jasoncole Told by #Jaguars source that team won't reach (trade up) for Myles Jack, but might draft him at some point
My list who we should get in the 2nd

Noah Spence

Miles Jack

Jonathan Bullard

Kevin Dodd

Shilique Calhoun

Emmanuel Ogbah

Kamalei Correa

Josh Perry

Dion Jones

Would be ok with

Cody Whitehair and Nick Martin but rather defense

"At some point"....

Yeah at pick 38.

Still lying season... So is this a:

  1. bluff: we are trading up to get him
  2. double bluff: we aren't trading up to get him but will draft him at #38
  3. triple bluff: we are interested in trading up, but want other teams to think we are waiting to pick up at #38 to prevent other teams from leap frogging us and to minimize the amount we have to give up in a trade
  4. bold face lie: we have no interest in taking him and are attempting to stir the pot in order to get other teams to either trade up above us (so the player we really want falls to us) or increase the stock value of our pick in a trade.
You don't trade up for an injured guy.

If he's good enough you do.

I think the only option you left out was

The Richard: at pick #38 Dave calls Myles Jack, "Hey, buddy! David Caldwell with the Jacksonville Jaguars. In a couple minutes were gonna make you a Jaguar. I'm going to put Gus on the phone.

Dave makes a second call: Hey, I want you to fill out the card with the name Noah Spence...

I think that, in general, that is a good rule to follow, but there are always exceptions to rules. Now whether Jack is one of those exceptions I do not know.

I wouldn't take an injured guy or one that needs surgery. There are enough healthy fish in the sea. I think the Jaguars will go O-line in the 2nd round... I would prefer Jack or Spence, but this team needs to get better at protecting the QB or they're going to be drafting another QB real soon. I think he was sacked more than everyone over a two year span... Blows my mind how he isn't in a wheel chair after last season.

If I was Bradley I would take Jack at #38 if he's there. The axe is hanging over his neck this season ,he needs at least 7/8 games to be safe, now is the time to take a risk.

Just saw a crawl on NFLN that makes me not want to take the risk in the 2nd round.  If he's still there in the 4th round, I'd take a chance on Jack.  Not in the 2nd or 3rd.

What did it say?
OL in Round 2, then Myles Jack or that Jihad guy from Illinois in the 3rd.

I put it in the miles jack thread.  But basically said he's having issues with that knee...  And that he MAY NEED additional surgery... Wallbash
