I think we'll be fine with whoever Dave puts at leo this year.
I predict multiple sack games are here...
Let the games begin
We've had multiple sack games this year. Its the consistent pressure we lacked.

Quote:Nice! Nice little cap off for our FA class. It's a good feeling isn't it?
If Dave can address the pass rush and LB spot in the first two rounds that we are golden.
Quote:You're the one who keeps bringing them up.
Personally I think Dante Fowler will be a beast this year. I think we'll grab someone in the first 3 rounds to rotate with him. You guys have an irrational fear of rookies (Fowler isn't even a rookie and has been around the team for a year now). 2 years ago we had rookies like Robinson, Hurns, Telvin and Linder beasting.
Quote:Isn't the option for 2017?Yep, but it would have to be picked up this offseason.

Quote:Yep, but it would have to be picked up this offseason.Lol. Ya. That ain't happening.
On a side note, it continues to amaze me how many people here, on the Twitterverse and on PFT's comments section keep insisting that we should trade Joeckel and a mid-to-late pick for some combination of Cliff Avril and Michael Bennett. Keep dreaming, guys.
Quote:Right, im sick of talking about it because its never addressed. Nobody can sit here and say WOW our pass rush is much improved. Counting on a rookie coming back from ACL surgery is a big mistake. It very well could be a problem but I wouldn't call it a mistake.

Counting on a rookie coming back from ACL surgery is a big mistake. You don't think the front office has done pretty much everything they can at this point to try to address the pass rush? We're how far into free agency? There's a lot of time here to add another veteran to the mix either by trade or later in the off season when teams start to prune their rosters to get down to 53. Toss in the draft, what they've already acquired in free agency, and what options are on the horizon and the pass rush should be improved. Just creating more pressure up the middle will create opportunities that we didn't have last year.

We tried to sign the 2 best Leo's available and failed.
Now we draft and develop were still a much improved team and should win a bunch of games.
Quote:They can trade Joekel now if they wanted to for......?If they package him with a 5th round pick - maybe they could find someone decent to rotate at LEO with Fowler - buT it may be tough to find that partner.
Quote:They can trade Joekel now if they wanted to for......?I don't think Joeckel gets traded before the start of the season.

If he gets traded, it will be a Monroe type trade once Beachum is healthy enough to take the starting role, assuming he beats Joeckel out (not really a stretch, but maybe our LT of the future suddenly feels motivated?).
What the team should be hoping for is that Joeckel comes in and makes a real competition of it, but at the end of the day still loses the starting gig. They'll have good film of him that other teams can use to offer up something...anything in trade. Will a deal get done? Probably not, in which case, you've got experienced depth on the bench.

Might be a team out there in desperate need at OT that has a decent DE that isn't in their long term plans.
Quote:They can trade Joekel now if they wanted to for......?
Quote:Exactly. The one pass rush guy we missed on was overpaid to go to NY. When he washes out as a disappointment after landing the most lucrative contract in the history of the league for DE, watch how silent the hand wringer choir led by their director, Bklyn will be on the subject. To be worth the money he got, he's going to need to rack up double-digit sacks for multiple years and just terrorize QBs. He's not a JJ Watt.
