Quote:Me too...

I think we'll be fine with whoever Dave puts at leo this year.

I predict multiple sack games are here...

Let the games begin

We've had multiple sack games this year. Its the consistent pressure we lacked.
Quote:Nice! Nice little cap off for our FA class.

If Dave can address the pass rush and LB spot in the first two rounds that we are golden.
It's a good feeling isn't it?

Man o man...

I can't WAIT to see this team...we win a bunch of games this year ? Gusto and Dave will have instant genius status....

Can't wait to see all the smiles on gus face.

Personally I think Dante Fowler will be a beast this year. I think we'll grab someone in the first 3 rounds to rotate with him. You guys have an irrational fear of rookies (Fowler isn't even a rookie and has been around the team for a year now). 2 years ago we had rookies like Robinson, Hurns, Telvin and Linder beasting.

Right, im sick of talking about it because its never addressed. Nobody can sit here and say WOW our pass rush is much improved. Counting on a rookie coming back from ACL surgery is a big mistake.
Quote:Isn't the option for 2017?
Yep, but it would have to be picked up this offseason.

On a side note, it continues to amaze me how many people here, on the Twitterverse and on PFT's comments section keep insisting that we should trade Joeckel and a mid-to-late pick for some combination of Cliff Avril and Michael Bennett. Keep dreaming, guys.

That's true.

I mean specifically that.

Multiple sacks and good constant pressure

Lol. Ya. That ain't happening.

Besides...I don't think we need another leo.

I think with fowler, Skuta (maybe). And whomever we draft leo will produce

It very well could be a problem but I wouldn't call it a mistake.

We tried to sign the 2 best Leo's available and failed.

Now we draft and develop were still a much improved team and should win a bunch of games.

You don't think the front office has done pretty much everything they can at this point to try to address the pass rush?  We're how far into free agency?  There's a lot of time here to add another veteran to the mix either by trade or later in the off season when teams start to prune their rosters to get down to 53.  Toss in the draft, what they've already acquired in free agency, and what options are on the horizon and the pass rush should be improved.  Just creating more pressure up the middle will create opportunities that we didn't have last year.

Exactly.  The one pass rush guy we missed on was overpaid to go to NY.  When he washes out as a disappointment after landing the most lucrative contract in the history of the league for DE, watch how silent the hand wringer choir led by their director, Bklyn will be on the subject.  To be worth the money he got, he's going to need to rack up double-digit sacks for multiple years and just terrorize QBs.  He's not a JJ Watt.
They can trade Joekel now if they wanted to for......?

If they package him with a 5th round pick - maybe they could find someone decent to rotate at LEO with Fowler - buT it may be tough to find that partner.

Might be a team out there in desperate need at OT that has a decent DE that isn't in their long term plans.

I don't think Joeckel gets traded before the start of the season.

If he gets traded, it will be a Monroe type trade once Beachum is healthy enough to take the starting role, assuming he beats Joeckel out (not really a stretch, but maybe our LT of the future suddenly feels motivated?).

What the team should be hoping for is that Joeckel comes in and makes a real competition of it, but at the end of the day still loses the starting gig.  They'll have good film of him that other teams can use to offer up something...anything in trade.  Will a deal get done?  Probably not, in which case, you've got experienced depth on the bench.
I wonder if Joeckel could play center? You don't have to be as strong at center as you do at guard, because you don't have to block one on one as often. Center is more about intelligence and athleticism which Joeckel has.

I know Max Unger the NO (and longtime SEA) center used to play tackle in college. Also, didn't the guy from FSU make the switch a couple years ago? So I know a tackle to center conversion can work. Maybe it would work for Joeckel too.

It's going to be interesting to see what they do with the O-Line. It will depend on the contract we've given him, but I would say that Beachum is looked at as a potential starting tackle because according to PFF he ranked 3rd among tackles in pass blocking efficiency in 2014, and last season only allowed six pressures in six starts. If healthy he could end up beating Joeckel to our starting left tackle position because while Joeckel hasn't been terrible, he hasn't established himself as a top ten tackle like you would expect a second overall pick to become. I think they'll have a competition between them and give Beachum the chance to win the starting job, and if Joeckel fails to win, maybe they try trading him or shifting him to guard, or perhaps they let the loser start at right tackle over Parnell. I don't know what they are going to do, but signing Beachum is a good move.

This is my favorite signing thus far.  If he's healthy, this guy will be the biggest difference maker of all the free agents in my opinion.

Is he healthy enough to even start if he does beat out Joekel? I know he's not that far removed from the injury.

I agree.

Lj has some trade value...I wonder if we should be trying to trade him now?

Lol. After the last game last year...

I wish he were already gone

Is there anybody left on the Browns? I hear they are having going out of business sale
Hahaha!

We're getting better every day!

No denying THAT!

The top pass rusher in this year's draft had only 8 sacks last year.  That's not a game changing type player, and he's not worth the money the Giants paid him.
