OFFICIAL: QB Chad Henne re-signs.

Wonderful

I agree Smile one less thing to worry about
I'm sure it's a reasonable deal that keeps him around for as long as is necessary. It'll be interesting to see the details.

At this point it makes sense. The offense is about building around Blake now and Henne is part of that. A trusted veteran voice, a friend, ready to start if needed but not looking to take the job away.

Henne signed two-year, $8 million deal in 2014 before market opened, looks like same term/money in 2016 before market opens. #Jaguars

One less thing to worry about. Backups are valuable

If that info is accurate, then the team gets a good deal out of this. I know it won't be popular with a certain segment of this fan base, but there's value in this new deal for the team. Depending on how much was guaranteed, if some opportunity presents itself to upgrade, I'm sure the team will.

Love this move.

Re-sign a known commodity. Despite what the blowhards like Brklyn say, he is viewed as one of the best backups in the league. He loves it here, and he performs the backup role perfectly and with dignity and class.

We have the backup locked up for a couple more years, and that's now one less thing for Dave & Co to worry about.

Well done, Jags!

You are the Jaguars official, unpaid, Public Affairs Officer.

Agreed. As a whole, backups around the league stink and we have an above average one in Henne. It's a fair deal for both sides and Blake's talked about how valuable Chad has been in the film room and in game prep. Keeping Chad around for another couple seasons is the sensible thing to do.
Nice move. I still expect them to get an UDFA QB they feel like they can develop like Brissett from NC State.
Question, what did he do to get another contract???

Some thinks hes above average backup qb, in what aspect? He doesnt win!

Simply put he was resigned basically because of his relationship with Bortles, will he win games if needed? No! Will he make Bortles better?? No!

Smh Caldwell ..
That sound you just heard? That was the heads of Bklyn, Yo Boy and Jags02 exploding at the same time.

Using up some of that cap

Contract conveniently ends when bortles and a rob are looking for big money

UDFA QBs are just guys to throw the ball in practice. Their success rate is near 0%.

I guess Kurt Warner and Tony Romo aren't very successful.

Opposed to how many that weren't?

Like I said, near 0%. Do the math.

No one heard anything, the explosions were far to small.
