I would think the indoor field would only be used when there is inclement weather. I wouldn't want them to lose the advantage of practicing in the heat and having the early season home field advantage.

It's not rocket science. Khan is investing $45 million into the city so that the NFL selects HIM to move to London. $45 million is peanuts for the billions that London brings.

So I just watched and listened to Khan.

Some of the statements and the way he said things kind of struck me.

He said in the interview on the main site and I'm paraphrasing, he wants to succeed and stay in JAX. (Khan did seem kind of snobby)

He doesn't sound like moving is NEVER out of the question, which I believe the reporter was trying to get out of him.

 

They also made it very clear today that the Jags strength in London needs to remain high in order for the franchise to be stable in Jacksonville.

 

As residence in JAX, is this "new" news? Or is this basically how you've been feeling for a while?

A lot of Jags fans, myself included keep saying with all these renovations/investments, the Jags are not going anywhere.

 

I was pretty shocked that Khan didn't give a firm statement and otherwise dismiss the whole question all together. 

 

"We aren't going anywhere" is what i was expecting to hear.

 If he said that he could end up lying. Nothing in the NFL is guaranteed. This city needs to start buying more tickets on a season basis or eventually they will make a change.

The Jags aren't going anywhere.


First of all, even in the NFL, where greed is rampant, the league frowns on franchises that break their lease. The team's lease runs up to 2029.


Second, the stuff that was unveiled today was more than just amazing...it was iconic, and will definitely establish Jacksonville and the Jaguars as a unique brand. These plans definitely aren't coming from a guy who wants to move somewhere else.

I also felt the same way, but everyone perceives things differently. I really have to believe with as much money is being spent both by the city and Jaguars on stadium upgrades you would be hard pressed to find many better venues in the NFL, thus moving the team would be pointless. I also believe I read that the amphitheater events would go into the Jags pockets so that is also increased revenue for them.


London is the only other variable and it is going to take a while for the logistics to iron themselves out if NFL wants a full time team there in the early 20's.

If playing one game a year in London keeps the team in Jax, then I'm all for it. I'll schedule a family vacation to Europe now and watch the team when I otherwise would have never really considered such a vacation. Wayne Weaver had zero vision after the first season ticket holder contracts expired. Shad and Mark Lamping are huge for Jax.
