nope. keep him for this year. too much potential

At best he pushes for real field time. At worst he's a threat in kick returns or punt returns, plus insurance in case Arob, Hurnsy, or Greene or Walters are hurt...

 

That being said... if some team is stupid enough to give up a proven pass rusher or a 2nd round pick or better for him, sure. Let's do it.

The guy hasn't even done anything in the NFL yet. Nobody is going to give up anything good.

I had this same thought about a month into the season.


I like Lee. But if yiu could get a third in this draft, I think you have to pull the trigger.


You went into last year's 2nd round wanting to get some help at WR. We did that. We got a star in Arob. And we got an excellent number two in Hurns. We used two 2nd round picks for WRs and we got two great ones out of the draft, abeit one undrafted.


In my mind a 3rd would more than recoup the value of the Lee pick, considering what we got in Arob. Walters is the perfect 3rd reciever and Greene is an excellent punt returner, two things that would otherwise be left for Lee to do.


I'd do it.

True and it's unlikely, but Dave did get picks for both Gabbert and Scobee. Late round picks, but still he was able to get something. Desperate teams do desperate things. NO traded away their weapon in TE  Graham.

Nola got an all-pro lineman, they were trying to protect the aging Brees. Plus clear cap space.

We don't wanna toss away Lee for a late round pick.

And no one will give us a worthwhile pick. Maybe a 3rd....

The only hope we have with this scenario is if another GM had him highly graded during that draft and still thinks he can be the player they thought he could be.

 

So basically, anything we get is based on potential and not results.

 

Ryan O' throws a lot of poop against the wall to see what will stick. Not a fan of the guy.

I would for a third. That's another potential starter and contributor we'd be drafting and getting rid of someone who pulls a hamstring getting out of bed.

I absolutely wouldn't take ANYTHING lower than a 3rd for Lee. I was just giving an example of Dave being a shrewd negotiator and getting something for what appears to have little to no value.

Agree. Also, if we had a additional 3rd rounder, we'd have 9 total picks. Dave loves his picks because it allows him to maneuver around the draft and target his players. 

Trade value? He's hurt most of his career

The thing that would keep me from this is the idea that Lee has downfield speed that no one else in the WR group really has. The man has speed and you never want to get rid of speed. It'd have to be a pretty sweet deal for me to give him up, even in the light of how injured he has been to start his career.

Lee has first round talent and athleticism.  If he can stay healthy (seemingly big if), he has the potential to blow past Hurns on the depth chart and challenge Robinson as top dog.  I believe it would be foolish to trade him at this point unless someone made us an offer we couldn't refuse.  Don't see it happening.

Every player has a price, but I think this is just a beat writer spitballin' while we wait for some real news on the team. 

 

In theory it makes sense because the team is fairly deep at WR and there are a number of promising players stashed on the PS as well.

(Sterling, Copeland, Evans, Benn, and Bailey all have real potential IMO)  Yet, I'm not sure any of them boast the speed that Lee brings to the table. 

 

I'd like to see Lee take on a bit of the role that Torrey Smith had around 2012/2013 with the ravens. They'd send him deep a few times per game and chuck it downfield when he outran the coverage. It worked often enough to be effective, and it was his speed that got him open most of the time. 

With Robinson and Hurns sure to draw more attention in 2016 - this could be a very handy weapon in Olson's arsenal.

I agree. He has made a little progress. And by that I mean he saw the field and was actually somewhat productive towards the end there. His value is only going to go up at this point considering his injury history. Not a good time to trade him.

It depends what we get for him. Think it'd be a fourth round pick at best, ideally a player for player deal.

If we could get someone who can help this team on defense and is an upgrade, I'm all for it..
