Just an interesting thought I had. I wonder if Lee's acceleration (which is top shelf stuff) and overall difference to Hurns/Robinson threw Bortles off a little bit. I would imagine Bortles' strategy when throwing to Hurns/Robinson is to throw ahead of them more so than Lee or even Thomas. Hurns/Robinson have extreme reach/catching radius, Lee doesn't.

It could be that Bortles simply throws better to Robinson's type than Lee's type. I noticed the same thing with Rodgers in his first couple starting years. I don't doubt for a second Bortles can adapt just the same so long Lee stays healthy. I may have judged Lee a little too fast without thinking of all the variables.

It may factor, but I think it's more Lee not getting enough reps due to being on the sideline.

The more reps together, the more "natural" both become with each other.

It was absolutely an adjustment for Bortles. And he never really made it. When Lee came back Bortles under threw him down the sideline on what would have been an easy TD. Two weeks later he attempted the same pass and OVERthrew him.

They'll have their timing together by August IMO.
Exactly. They had very little chemistry going and it's simply too hard for them to get the timing down mid season. That's where all the off season work and camps come into play. Lee just missed all of that being sidelined with first a knee injury and then hamstrings.

It must be the Jaguars off season where the optimist reign supreme with Super Bowl dreams and whatnot until the season starts up. Here we go with the potential talk and upside and value that never comes to fruition. Troy Williamson had speed too but guess where he ended up. I saw nothing from Lee the past two seasons except a wasted roster spot. Could he live up, sure but if a 3rd or better comes around someone needs to take flight.

Yea, a 3rd or better for somebody you, yourself just said is a wasted roster spot... Who's the one talking about dreams now?

Nobody is giving this team jack for that guy so a third or better is robbing if someone were dumb enough to do it. I'm talking in a thread about something that will never happen buddy. You're a in Gus we trust member right? Have your fun in the sun winning the off season Super Bowl.

You obviously have no clue what you're talking about if you think I'm a in Gus we trust member, or whatever.

I also said from the start that Lee isn't going anywhere. What was being talked about in this thread, which will happen, is that Lee is going to get another year to try and show something. That is what's going to happen buddy.

Why do you keep bringing up a 3rd or better, when nobody is going to give jack for Lee anyways..
He's a very skilled WR when healthy, and you're in a great spot if your 3rd/4th receiver can play like a #1 when you need him to. Let's see if he can be productive this coming season, and if not we can get rid of him.

So don't trade him becaus he's not worth anything, but don't get rid of him because he's Antonio Brown. Hmmmm
I know I've already posted about his speed being a potential asset to the offense, but I'll throw in a bit more.

It's my opinion that  -  Fowler+Another Pass Rusher+Free Safety Upgrade +CB #2 = More Wins For the Jags.

(there are other needs, but the three above will have dramatic impact IMO)

So the question becomes "Can we achieve that w/o trading a talented player?"  I think the answer is "yes."

Between the ability to pay 2 or 3 big ticket FA players in March and picks #5 and #38 in the draft -- This team should be able to plug most of the leaks in the defense.

In the NFL, The wise GM's would rather be the guy who sticks with their draft pick one year too much rather than the guy who cuts bait only to see the next GM work magic with the guy (EX: Reggie Nelson). If we see nothing from Lee in year 3, Then its time once you draft another jar on the shelf.

I know we all have this idea in our heads that Lee is injury prone, but how many games was he active this season ? I wonder how that compares with players we are lining up to take his place, (like Greene or Walters).
He was active 10 games and started one. Walters (who missed 5 games) and Greene (who missed 7 games) combined to amass 51 receptions and about 450 yards with 3 TDS in his place.

Lee is too talented to give up on just yet.
Combine the stats for Lee/Walters/Greene and it's 66 receptions for about 650 yards and 4 TDs. Not bad numbers for a third option.
I can't see anyone trading for him.

Keep him, you would be selling him at his low price. Best you would get is a 4th and its not worth the trade at that point.

A very good point.
I dont see the reason to trade him. Yes, we have a pro bowler in A Rob, yes, Hurns is very good, we have the punt returner in Green, but why not have Lee as well? He could work the slot and be the fly route guy, if he stays healthy, he has the most talent of the group. Why not have A Rob, Hurns, Lee, Walters and Green? You know injuries happen all the time, no sense in trading good depth away when the NFL is very unpredictable league.

I think with this talent, and what we actually could get in a trade with a team, I am not sure I take the risk. One mans trash is another mans treasure, he could easily go to New England and look like a super star. I think the best thing the Jags can do is wait it out with Lee. Your not getting anything more than a day 3 draft pick, and a low one at that, he's got loads of talent but his injury history has hindered his career. I see a lot of potential with Lee, I dont think I make a trade. I think with a solid camp, him and Walters duke it out for the 3rd WR position. Of course rotation occurs and all of them will play and compete, but thats what is separating the Jags from others, I think top to bottom, we have one of the strongest WR corps in the league.

I see a potential trade in Lee biting the Jags in the butt, I think Ryan O is speculating, as thats his job.
