Quote:Of course, Josh Gordon had a 1600 yard season at 23....and he turned into a Hall of Famer....

If you think this point has any relevance, you are even less intelligent than I thought or you're simply trolling with red herrings.

LOL. No - we are not at that point.  Robinson has the potential to make this a conversation - but we aren't there yet.

Nice thread derail, BTW.  :teehee:

This.
But you calling me stupid doesn't derail the fact that Jimmy was a better receiver.

You're comparing 27 year old Jimmy Smith to 22 year old Allen Robinson. History tells us that it's stupid to write off WRs before year 3, but Allen Robinson is special enough to go for 1,400 and 14 TDs in year 2. Writing him off as an inferior to WR to Smith is stupid because Jimmy was not on Allen's level at this age. I hope you get your money back on the GED someone gave you.

After his age 26 season, Jimmy Smith had a career 288 yards and 3 TDs.

After his age 26 season, Allen Robinson will probably have 5,000+ yards and 45+ TDs.

Allen Robinson led the league in TDs and Receptions of +20 yards in his second season and at the age of 22. Writing him off as inferior to Smith already is mind-boggling. Nostalgia can be pretty blinding.

Great way to throw stats out there. Josh Gordon had a 1600 yard season in 14 games and got banned by the league to come back who knows when. You can throw what you assume to be clever insults out all you want and make assumptions on my education level, it doesn't change the fact that Allen Robinson has a ways to go to catch up to be as special a receiver as Jimmy was.

I find it amusing the ones to quickly bash intelligence are usually the least intelligent themselves.

Josh Gordon has absolutely nothing to do with Allen Robinson.
Dismissing how great Allen Robinson played this year because Josh Gordon smokes weed is headscratching.

Sure he does. You are doing projections on Robinson by age 25. Gordon had 2400+ receiving yards by age 23 with Jason Campbell and Brandon Weeden as his QBs. Extrapolate that out to age 25 and he would have the magic 5000 yards you claimed Robinson would probably have. However his off the field issues might finish his career if the NFL doesn't reinstate him. Robinson could get hurt, get arrested, or any other number of issues. He could pull a Patrick Willis and retire early due to concussions concerns. Age 22 projections are nice but they don't tell the whole story.

Robinson MIGHT finish his career with 800+ receptions and 12000 plus receiving yards. Jimmy Smith DID.
Again, dismissing how great Allen Robinson played this year because Josh Gordon smokes weed is headscratching. Come with something better if you want to be taken seriously.

Lol. Patrick Willis didn't retire because of concussion concerns. Honest question: Do you even follow the NFL?
Chris Borland....wrong 9ers LB, same off season. Jason Worilds from the Steelers also retired early due to lost desire. It happens.

You can insult me all you want. MB tough guy antics are a bit beneath me, but if it makes you feel better to vent, go ahead.

Dude. Jimmy Smith started 4 games in his first 3 seasons.

2 very different situations.

Right, that's kind of the point I'm making. 22 year old Jimmy was not the level of player 22 year old Allen Robinson is. Writing Allen Robinson off as inferior to Jimmy at this point in his career is silly. Furthermore, saying Jimmy > Allen because 30 year old Jimmy Smith went for 1,600 yards and Allen Robinson only has a 1,400 yard season at age 22 is mind-numbingly stupid.

It is pretty common knowledge that Borland is the one that retired early due to concussion concerns. You should touch up on our NFL news.
No one is writing Allen off. I'm just saying give the guy a few seasons producing high numbers before saying he's the greatest receiver in franchise history.
Our NFL news? I don't have access to YOUR NFL news. I just have what the league puts out.

Did the league put out news that Patrick Willis retired due to concussion concerns, or was that you just being a half-wit again?

You stupidly say "How many 1600 yard seasons does Allen Robinson have?" as if that is a knock against the guy. Allen Robinson had 1,400 yards and 14 TDs at age 22. Use your head.
