Alexander stands at 5'10 195 pounds but is built of solid muscle with a large frame and thick thighs. He excels in coverage and isn't afraid to stick his nose in and make the tough tackle. He's a trash talker too something this team has been missing for some time since the days of Mike Peterson. He's not a typical "Gus CB" as far as size goes but there are rumblings around the draft community that he could end up being the best CB in the draft by the time the combine rolls around. Thoughts?

I like this guy a lot and I wouldn't mind if Ramsey was off the board I would choose him over Hargraves but there is a lot of talent when we pick so it's just hard to say.
If there is one guy who will shine beyond a doubt in the combine it will be Ramsey because of his freakish athleticism.
I think he will be a riser. Depending on his combine he could work his way into the top 10, maybe top 5. Looks like he's going to come in 5'11'' 200lbs with 31'' arms and big hands. Good size for a CB. Hargreaves' arms look shorter. Will have to see what numbers he posts at the combine.
He or Hargreaves would make a worthy trade down candidate.
He looks like a solid player but appears to have missed 3 games last year North Carolina State, Wake Forest and Georgia State. Does anyone know if he did miss those games and for what reason. Injury or Conduct or just being a RS Freshman?
He appears to enjoy contact. He tackles low and appears to understand leverage. He NEVER goes for the ball, always batting it away, great in some respects but may not create turnovers. That is disappointing! Not saying he cant learn to do it but it would seem more logical to get someone who has that talent or instinct for creating turnovers, especially considering our need for that.
I would prefer Ramsey's Boom or VH3 over this guy but I think he would be an upgrade to our team.
He is my 3rd CB
But if he gets exposed by Nick Saben and Lane Kiffin in the title game will he become overrated?
I brought him up on the board months ago. He is a good corner but a top 5 pick? Lol, no thx. Would rather Myles Jack if Dave isnt sold on Ramsey or VH3

Lol. It was just a question J-Mizzal. I still think Hargreaves is the best CB in the draft and BTW I'm a Gators fan as well so I'll admit bias.

He's not top 5 worthy yet...I do expect him to test well though and become a draftnick favorite. Getting picked in that 5-8 range may not seem as farfetched a couple of months from now.

He has been a mid 1st round prospect all season. But top 5? Naw
If we traded back in the draft he would be a player to look at. Im kinda starting to lean on trade back with as many holes as this team has

FWIW, CBS has him ranked as the 10 overall best prospect in this year's draft at this early stage in the process. I really don't think it's outlandish to think he could move up a few more spots.

Same thing people said about Fowler last year. And Bortles the year before that. Guys rise.
Quote:Yeah i meant to put Ragland or Alexander. Mackenzie Alexander doesnt have the size Gus like but he is a really good corner and would probably be our number 1 corner his rookie year

Its not like this guy is just now busting on the scene. He has been one of the best corners all season. I like the guy and I said this about him about a month and a half ago. Its possible he could move up a few spots the way teams are wanting corners now. 10-20 is about where he has been most of the season but we pick in the top 5 and was saying he wont go that high. If we do take him at 5 I wouldnt like the pick but if we can get a nice trade down offer he would be good to look at IMO if he is still on the board.

Fowler is a pass rusher and Bortles is a QB. A little difference there lol

lol i'm just messing with you cuz of the other thread

CB is a premium position which tends to get over drafted along with QB, DE, and LT.

How many corners have been drafted in the top 5 in the last 10 or 15 years?
Quote:CB is a premium position which tends to get over drafted along with QB, DE, and LT.
corner is not as premium position as the top 3 which is why you rarely ever see a corner drafted top 5 unless he is an elite prospect.
I don't think it matters what position is premium to the rest of the league or not, in the past or present, what matters is what is a premium position for this team right now and getting more talent in the secondary is a premium position. I'm worried about this team not the other 31, and I'm not concerned about value of the position, especially when we're talking about an element (shutdown corner) that has been a hallmark of elite defenses and championship teams for years. If they target Mackenzie as the best player available when we pick then it shouldn't matter how high the position has been drafted in years past.
