Quote:Wasn't that a tad overthrown? Also he missed Hurns on the last drive wide open too. Hopefully he gets more consistent next year.
The Hurns throw was well overthrown, the JT one was thrown well enough to go off of JT's hand. Difficult catch, but not necessarily impossible. Sometimes a pro bowl level player needs to make a play.
Quote:There were a lot of missed opportunities. I put this loss on the offense for sure. They didn't execute well today at all.
0-3 against the "soft" NFC South with the Saints up next. If the offense can rebound it could be a high scoring game.
I wouldn't put it solely on the offense. The defense pretty much sucked in the first half.
I've mentioned plenty that Bortles seems to throw the interceptions at the most inopportune times. You just can't throw the INT on the 1 yard line with 12 seconds left before halftime. You just can't. Not only did you cost your team a minimum of 3 points you also let the Falcons run it back and get a free FG. He has to have better awareness.
No The joke is what killed us this game. Good god kroy bierman took his [BLEEP] to school today.
It was embarrassing.
Quote:Basically what the topic says.. If he doesnt throw that pick we win plain and simple... He had a chance to redeem hiself but he just couldnt make the throws.. Great year tho!
No what killed us the defense letting them convert 3rd and long 4/6 times in the 4th quarter... If you think otherwise you are a fool
Quote:Still morons online I see. Bortles is not the problem. He came back back with 3 great drives. He's elite. Some morons will never get it.
Exactly Half of our fan base are complete idiots and don't understand football. We were tied going into the 4th quarter and the defense gives up 3rd and long after 3rd and long after 3rd and long. They (ATL) had the ball like 9 minutes in the 4th quarter. Denards fumbles that stalled a very important drive didn't help either.
If we have Babich in the staff, we would always be saying next year is ours.

It was a bad call by OC Olson to have him throw that instead of a draw play with 14 secs left, oh well at least Bortles chased him down & made the tackle like a LB.

Draw play? We had zero timeouts. Had we failed on the draw, we probably missed out on a FG.

It's called going to your second read or throwing it away. Pretty simple concept when playing situational football.

That's on Bortles not the play call.
If the play isn't there you throw the ball away and take the field goal. That int was a 6 point swing which was the difference in the ballgame.
Bortles has to be smarter than that in those types of situations.

So Blake made a mistake so what you want to do cut him?
Quote:So Blake made a mistake so what you want to do cut him?
No. I just want him to become more consistent. He was doing good the past couple of weeks but fell back into his old ways again. I understand he's young and there will be growing pains but at what point do you learn from making the same mistakes over and over and over again? Honest question.

I still thought the play call sucked. There was too much traffic and too many bodies there. That could have been avoided with a better play. No excuse for the INT I just thought the call stunk.

I remind you that he's only in his 2nd year, and he took some nasty hits. Did you see him holding the small of his back? Or the two guys that ran into him in the sidelines but he didnt do a Matt cry fit?
You all are way too hard on Bortles whom is only one guy. He threw an INT but also made the tackle (the team got messed over on that 2 sec it was only 1 and thus shouldve went to the half)...beside Matt from Atlanta threw an INT too.
Blake ran for a TD and threw 1, he threw two that shouldve been caught for TDs... so i mean its not all on him.. how about a defense that cant stop the pass for 3 years... yeah i would start with the DBs...

I'm not being too hard on him. It's not like this is the first or second time he has done this.He has to stop making those kinds of plays when we are in scoring position. They will lose you games in this league.
He's not the only reason we lost, but that play was the single most damaging yet easiest to avoid of any mistake made in the games. We weren't in a do or die situation, it was the end of the 1st half. You have to take the points available in that situation.

Honest question: is there some established veteran out there who has made all of the mistakes and in turn, learned from all of them and no longer makes them?
With respect, what the hell does that mean? Every QB throws picks. Every one.
Blake has dialed his turnovers back a ton. He makes a mistake every once in a while. So does every QB ever. This "full consistency" garbage is just that. Dude has thrown for 30 plus TD's. You don't do that without make a mistake every once in a while.

Especially when the team depends on you so much to win the game. No running game, no consistent pass protection, and he still is putting up these numbers.
Blaming Bortles for this loss is hilarious. Yeah, he overthrew Hurns, but he had the Atlanta pass rush in his face all day including that play. And Bortles didn't let the Atlanta offense chew up 6 minutes so that he would he be left with 1:43 with no time outs to drive 89 yards.

That interception resulted in a 10 point swing. Add 7 to our score, subtract 3 from them........and we probably win. Blake has to own that, another back breaker just before half. Kills momentum. Our punter looked like the loser in the punt-pass-and kick competition in the first half. Resulted in bad field position. Matt Ryan had all day to throw. No pass rush. Defenders can't cover anybody. Our defensive scheme is incoherent. Gave Falcons an 8 minute drive in the crucial 4th quarter. Kick off returner returns kick from 8 yards deep in the end zone.....tackled at the 10. Poor field position.
My point? There was plenty of blame for everyone.......it was a total team loss.
