Bingo. Brady would point to the dirt stain on his skirt and get his 15 yards

Brady would have drawn a flag there even if Telvin simply looked at him with bad intent.
If there was a play where we got "lucky" on, it was the Lee inadvertent "hit" of the referee. It was accidental, but most times it doesn't matter and they flag you anyway.

He had the 2nd best helmet slam behind only Mr. Myers.

Which helmet slam? Matt Hasselbeck threw his helmet two or three times.
Quote:The picture says it all. He was clearly still in bounds, but that was never the issue. The issue was that Has was just as clearly giving himself up going out of bounds. Look at the picture. He wasn't trying to get extra yards. The ref could have easily thrown a flag here, but I like the no call.

Agree

At that point Hasselback gave himself up as a runner by not continuing to advance the ball and running parallel to the sideline.

Smith will probably be fined.

If Smith didn't touch him and the old fossil cut up field and gained another 25 yards, we'd be wanting Telvin's head on a platter.  This is football.  I'm sick and tired of people thinking it is figure skating.  They've made this game sensitive enough, and if Smith gets fined it will be an outrage.  It's not like he intentionally did something to injure the old museum exhibit, QB's get pushed out of bounds every single game.  He was in bounds, Smith pushed him just like they're taught to do, and the old relic got hurt.  So what.

I doubt it.

Only thing I'd change about the play is to make the hit harder and more direct.
Ouch when posters use the term "relic" and "ancient" when describing a 40 year old player.

You have to be kidding me.

I guess people do that when the 40-year old player is a backup quarterback with multiple injuries.
Question: Do we know for sure that Hasselbeck threw a fit because of the hut or maybe out of frustration because he knew instantly that he had injured himself?

I've always thought Hasselbeck was a pretty stand up guy. I'd honestly be kind if surprised if he threw a hissy just for being pushed out of bounds in and of itself...

I watched the game again last night, and he was barking at our defense all the way back to the bench after they finally got the crying fit under control on our sideline.

I'll say the same thing I said at the game.

I've taken harder hits playing flag football. Man up and get your [BLEEP] back out on the field.

Good grief.

This isn't flag football.  This is a sport.  Played by grown men.

If he didn't want to get hit then he shouldn't have turned himself into a runner.  He could have ran out of bounds earlier to avoid Telvin but he didn't.  He continued to run (jog) forward like Telvin should let him go.  Telvin took it easy on him.  He shoved him fairly lightly.  He didn't lay his shoulder into him and he could have.

If Smith is fined I'd be surprised.  He did nothing wrong.

Had that been anyone but the QB this wouldn't even be a discussion.
H Back is a baby.

Slide dumb butt.

Hasselbeck should be fined for conduct unbecoming of an AARP member.

Regards.................the Chiefjag

Beck reportedly leaving stadium in a sling, lol.

In normal every day life, 40 is neither of those things.  But in the NFL it sure as heck is.
